For example: - Rabindranath Tagore has composed many spiritual poems and songs in the style of Fakir Lalon Shah. But they cannot be called Baul music at all. These are Rabindra Sangeet. Dewan Hasan Raja has composed many poems and songs. Although they are mysticism, they are not completely Baul songs. Rather, that songs is Dewan Hasan Raja's own style. Similarly, Radharman Biswas has composed songs like his own. Even though they are like Baul songs, they are not Baul songs. Again, the songs of Vaishnavism cannot be said completely. Rather, they are songs of Radharman's own style. Similarly, Shah Abdul Karim is called Baul Emperor. He has composed many songs. But they are not written in imitation of Fakir Lalon Shah. Rather, it is a song of Baul emperor Shah Abdul Karim's own style. Similarly, I Lilu Majumdar compose songs in my own style and practice them through musical instruments. I learned to play musical instruments from my respected guru Ustad Balauddin Khan."

 After hearing this from Lilu Brother, I said, "I have heard the name of Ustad Alauddin Khan. Who is the master and father-in-law of Pandit Ravi Shankar. But I have not heard the name of any musician named Ustad Balauddin Khan."

 On hearing this, Brother Lilu frowned at me and said, "How many musicians have you heard? Can you tell for sure the names of all the musicians?"

 I said, "It's not possible. Firstly, I don't practice music. Secondly, I don't need to know the names and identities of all the musicians. So I can't name all the musicians."

 Listening to me, Lilu Brother asked, "Then how do you know the name of Ustad Balauddin Khan? Ustad Balauddin Khan was a recluse musician. He did not sit in any Baul singing hall, nor did he go out to sing to the people. Instead, he practiced music in solitude. I also did not hear the name of Ustad Balauddin Khan. But I happened to be acquainted with Ustad Balauddin Khan. From him I took musical training." 

 I said, "I've heard of you, you write poems and turn those into songs. But now I hear from you that you also make ragas. Which one is right?"

 Listening to me, Lilu Brother said, "Both are right. But everyone in this house knows, I write poems and compose songs. But they don't understand Raga Ragini anymore. It is not possible to perceive Raga Ragini. How many people can perceive all the Raga Ragini that have been discovered so far? Not everyone can perceive it. One has to be more attentive than poetry, otherwise it is not possible for one to comprehend Raga Ragini. It can be annoying to even think of it as a meaningless sound, so I do not discuss my discovered Raga Ragini with anyone in this house, because if I talk to them, they will not understand Raga Ragini. So I don't want to waste my time and labor discussing Raga Ragini with them unnecessarily. But if you want to realize the Raga Ragini that I have discovered, then when I practice the Raga Ragini, you will sit with me and listen to them attentively. Then you will understand at least a little bit of Raga Ragini. Looking at you, I think you are an intelligent boy. So you can easily perceive the Ragas that I have discovered. I haven't found anyone in this house who has realized the Raga Ragini I have discovered. If you realize my discovered angry rays, I will get a scornful audience."

I asked Lilu Brother, "How did you meet Ustad Balauddin Khan?"

 Lilu Brother said, "Once I went to the shrine of Fakir Lalon Shah in Seuria, Kushtia. There was a fair sitting next to that shrine. At the fair, I saw an old man playing dotara. I saw the old man playing the dotara continuously. After a while I said, 'You have been playing the dotara for so long but you are not singing any song.'

 "Then the old man stopped playing Dotara and said, 'I am playing Dotara raga.'

 I said, 'Don't you sing?'

 Then the old man said, 'I don't sing. But I practice Raga Ragini in musical instruments. '

 I said, 'Where is your house? How did you learn to play Raga Ragini? How did you come to Fakir Lalon Shah's shrine? '

 Then the old man said, 'My name is Balauddin Khan. My home is in Baliadangi of Thakurgaon district. When I was young, a man from India used to come to our village. From that man I learned the practice of Raga Ragini. Since then I have been practicing Raga Ragini on musical instruments. I can sing well. But I don't go to people and sing. I don't even sing at any event. I just practice Raga Ragini on musical instruments. Now, in my old age, I am looking for a suitable disciple. '

 I said, 'You musician, why are you looking for a suitable disciple?'

 Then the old man, namely Ustad Balauddin Khan, said, 'If I can't teach any person the music that I have practiced in my life, then my music practice will be in vain. That's why I need a proper disciple to keep my music practice alive in the world. '

 Listening to that old man Ustad Balauddin Khan, I thought, I could not establish myself personally. When it was time for my SSC exam, I ran away from home without taking the exam. I came two months after the end of the test. Then I worked on people's land, made bricks in brick kilns. I have even driven a rickshaw from time to time to cover my family's expenses. And now I have come to the shrine of Fakir Lalon Shah. So I don't have a chance to do anything big in my life. And I have no desire to do anything big myself. So if I can learn from Ustad Balauddin Khan, then maybe I can be a great musician myself. And being a great musician, I will be able to earn money and gain fame by participating in concerts held in different places. So I said to Ustad Balauddin Khan, 'Will you accept me as your disciple?'

  On hearing this, Ustad Balauddin Khan said, 'I will not force you to become my disciple. But I can say that if you can be my disciple, you can be a good musician. And will later be able to establish itself as a great musician. Then you will see that many people will come to you from far and wide to invite you to play Raga Ragini in big music halls. Then you can go to the hall of all those songs and express yourself by presenting Raga Ragini. '

 Then I touched the feet of Ustad Balauddin Khan and saluted him and said, 'Ustad, I want to learn Raga Ragini from you. Accept me as your disciple. '

 On hearing this, Ustad Balauddin Khan said, 'There is no obstacle to accept you as my disciple. And I have no objections of my own. But it is your job to discover what that is and to bring it about. As much as I teach as a master, I will teach you. But it is your responsibility to take that education in you. No matter how hard it is, you have to keep that education in you. I am not a king zamindar that I will feed you and give you my music practice. It's not possible for me. It may have been possible for Dewan Hasan Raja. Because he was a zamindar. He could teach music to his disciples at home. But I have no such property. I eat from people myself. My boys and girls who are there are all busy with their families. So I have to eat by singing. However, since I practice Raga Ragini, not everyone understands my Raga Ragini. Some rich people are happy to hear my Raga Ragini. With the money they give me, I cover my expenses. Will you be able to take music lessons from me after having so much trouble with me? '

 I said, 'Ustad, I am not the son of Raja zamindar either. I grew up suffering. I know what kind of pain it is. So if you have to suffer to get music training from you, then I am willing to endure that pain. Even if you don't spend it for me from the money you earn by listening to Raga Ragini. Because I will take music training from you at my own expense. '

 Upon hearing this, Ustad Balauddin Khan was very happy and said, 'I will consider myself blessed to have a disciple like you. From today I have accepted you as my disciple. '

 I thought to myself, there are some small incidents in the life of a person which bring about a big change in the life of the person concerned. I came to Fakir Lalon Shah's shrine without any purpose. But when I came, I got an opportunity to take music training from Ustad Balauddin Khan.

 I immediately sat down in front of Ustad Alauddin Khan. Ustad Alauddin Khan handed over the dotara to me and said, 'You start playing the dotara.' That is the beginning. I started playing by tapping the strings of dotara. The next day I went to Thakurgaon with Ustad Balauddin Khan. Ustad Balauddin Khan and I lived and practiced music in a rented house at that place. In the morning, Ustad Balauddin Khan left to listen to Raga Ragini to different people. And I left to drive a rickshaw. When we return home in the evening, we practice music together. This is how I learned Raga Ragini from Ustad Balauddin Khan. One day Ustad Balauddin Khan said to me, 'Boy Lilu, what I have taught you to teach you. Now you go somewhere and practice music yourself. ' So that, I moved to Gazipur as he said. After working for a while at a garment factory in Chandra, Gazipur, I came to this place of Bhalukar. I am currently working here and practicing music. This is how I became a musician with music training from Ustad Balauddin Khan. But I have not yet found any of my disciples. Because in this industrial area, there are not enough people to enjoy music, let alone music disciples. So I'm practicing music on my own without looking for my disciples."

After discussing Lilu Brother with me, he said with a violin, "I will play Raga Ragini this time."

 Saying this, Lilu Brother started playing Raga Ragini.

 After playing for a while, Lilu Brother said, "The raga I am playing now is called Raga mashed potatoes."

 Saying this, Lilu Brother started playing the violin again. After playing for a while, he said to me again, "The name of this Raga is Raga pulses rice."

 I was shocked and said, "I have never heard the name of Raga Ragini like this. I have heard Raga Emon, Raga Bhairab etc."

 Then Lilu Brother gently reprimanded me and said, "Yes, there is Raga Emon, Raga Bhairab. But there is no law that will not be Raga mashed potatoes, pulses rice? The names I have given are correct because I am the inventor of them. There is no argument in this. Those who have invented Raga Ragini in the past have named them after themselves. I have done the same. Why argue about it? "

 Then Lilu Brother started playing one instrument after another. And began to say the name of each instrument. Raga milk rice, Raga sagar banana, Raga milk banana, Raga mango leaf, Raga blackberry leaf, Raga sweet pumpkin, Raga small pumpkin, Raga garments, Raga shirt, Raga pants, Raga hilsa, Raga pangas, Raga swan etc.

 Lilu Brothers opened his eyes and said, "You have now proved that you are worthy of being a worthy disciple. You have listened to my Raga Ragini with patience for a long time. It is a sign of being a worthy disciple. Not everyone has such patience. But you have this patience." So you deserve to be a good disciple. "

 I don't want to learn raga ragini from Lilu Brother. In Bangladesh My goal is to arrest the extremists in Assam. But because of the situation Lilu Brother has to stay as his roommate. And since Lilu Brother is a musician, I am forced to enjoy his music practice. But it is better to call it misery than enjoyment. Because I've never heard of such music in my life. 

 So I said to Lilu Brother, "You played the instrument as you like and gave the name of each instrument. Did that make you Raga Ragini?"

 On hearing this, Lilu Brother became very angry and said, "So far, those who have created Raga Ragini have given their names by playing their own whims and fancies. I have already said, is there any legal prohibition on making Raga Ragini? If not, then why can't I name the ones that have been happily created by others and given the name of Raga Ragini? "

 These words of Lilu Brother seemed like stubbornness to me. The matter became like establishing one's own whims and fancies through the application of force. So I don't want to create animosity with Lilu Brother.

 Therefore, even though I did not accept this stubbornness of Lilu Brother in my mind, I remained silent. If he can establish his own stubbornness, then there is no need to argue needlessly.

Standing in front of the door, Sister Moyna said, "What's the matter? You started arguing on the first day?"

ভালুকা বাসস্ট্যান্ডে নেমে আমরা দুজন গেলাম একটা ভাত খাওয়ার হোটেলে। সেখানে আমরা দুজনে মিলে ভাত খেলাম মুরগির মাংস আর মাছ ভাজা দিয়ে। খাওয়ার পর আবার দুজনে মিলে এক বোতল পেপসি খেয়ে আমরা একটা সিএনজি ভাড়া করলাম। সিএনজিতে উঠে দশ কিলোমিটার দূরে একটা গ্রামে গেলাম।যদিও সেটা গ্রাম, কিন্তু অনেক গার্মেন্টস আর কারখানা আছে। 

 সিএনজি থেকে নেমে মেয়েটা বলল,"ভাইয়া, আমাদের ভাড়া বাড়ি এখান থেকে মাত্র পাঁচ মিনিটের পথ। আসেন আমরা হেঁটে হেঁটে যাই।" হাঁটতে হাঁটতে মেয়েটা বলল,"ভাইয়া যাওয়ার আগে কিছু বাজার-সদাই করে নিই। আমাদের ভাড়া বাড়িতে যাওয়ার পথে একটা ছোট বাজার আছে। সেই বাজার থেকে কিছু বাজার-সদাই নিয়ে নেয়া দরকার। কেননা দুপুরে এবং রাতে রান্না করে খেতে হবে। আবার পরদিন সকালে সেগুলো খেয়ে ডিউটিতে যেতে হবে।" 

এক পর্যায়ে মেয়েটা বললো,"আমার নাম সুমনা। এখন থেকে আপনি আমাকে সুমনা বলে ডাকবেন। আর তুমি করে বলতে পারবেন। কেননা আপনার চেয়ে আমি কয়েক বছরের ছোট।" এভাবেই মেয়েটা আমার কাছের মানুষে পরিণত হলো।

 তাই সুমনার সঙ্গে আমি গেলাম সেই ছোট বাজারে। সেখানে গিয়ে দেখলাম ব্রয়লার মুরগি, পাঙ্গাস মাছ, আলু, পটল প্রভৃতি নিয়ে দোকানদাররা বসে আছে। 

সুমনা তখন মুরগির দোকানে গিয়ে বলল,"মামা আমাকে দুই কেজির মধ্যে একটা ব্রয়লার মুরগি দেন।" তবে সেই বাজারে দেশি মুরগিও আছে। কিন্তু সুমনা বললো,"আমরা যারা গার্মেন্টসে চাকরি করি, তাদের প্রধান খাবার হচ্ছে ব্রয়লার মুরগি আর পাঙ্গাস মাছ।কেননা এ দুটোই তুলনামূলকভাবে সস্তা, অথচ তাড়াতাড়ি রান্না করা যায়। তাই আমরা সেগুলোতে সস্তায় কিনে তাড়াতাড়ি রান্না করে খেয়ে ডিউটিতে যাই। আর এগুলো তো এখন বড়লোকরাও খায়।" এই কথা বলে সুমনা দুই কেজি একশো গ্রামের একটা মুরগি কিনলো। সুমনাকে বললাম,"এতো ওজনের মুরগি কিনলা, তোমরা তো মাত্র দুজন।"

তখন সুমনা হাসতে হাসতে বললো,"আপনি তো আমার মেহমান। তাই আপনি আজকে এবং কালকে আমাদের সঙ্গে খাবেন।পরে আবার নিজে রান্না করে খাবেন।"

এ কথা বলে সে মুরগির দাম পরিশোধ করে গেলো পাঙ্গাস মাছ কেনার জন্য। পাঙ্গাস মাছ কিনলো দেড় কেজি ওজনের। এর পর সবজির দোকানে গিয়ে এক কেজি আলু ও এক কেজি পটল কিনলো। এরপর কাঁচা মরিচ ও শসা কিনলো। 

সুমনা এগুলো নিয়ে যাচ্ছিলো, আমি বললাম,"এগুলো আমার কাছে দাও। আমি তোমাকে হেল্প করি।" তখন সে বাজারগুলো আমাকে দিয়ে বললো,"ভাইয়া আমরা আট ঘণ্টা ডিউটি করি। আরো ছয় ঘণ্টার মতো ওভার টাইম করি। তাই আমাদেরকে ভালো ভালো খাইতে হয়। ভালো না খাইলে আমরা কীভাবে এতো কাজ করবো?" 

আমি মনে মনে ভাবলাম,সত্যিই তো। কথাটা ঠিকই। যারা গতর খাটিয়ে টাকা উপার্জন করে, ওরা যদি ঠিক মতো না খায়, তাহলে কীভাবে পরিশ্রম করবে? তাই আমি বললাম,"তোমার কথা ঠিকই আছে।"

তখন ওর সঙ্গে হাঁটতে হাঁটতে আমি তাদের ভাড়া বাড়ির দিকে রওনা হলাম। 

 আমরা দুজনে বিভিন্ন কথাবার্তা বলে হাঁটতে লাগলাম। হাঁটতে হাঁটতে পথের মধ্যেই একজন বয়স্ক মহিলার সঙ্গে দেখা হলো। তখন সুমনাকে বয়স্ক মহিলাটা বললেন,"কী ব্যাপার সুমনা।? এতোদিন পর এলে। আমি তো মনে করেছিলাম তুমি চাকরি ছেড়ে দিয়েছো। তাই আমার বাড়িতে ভাড়া থাকবে না।" তখন সুমনা বললো,"বাড়িতে অনেক কাজ ছিলো। সেই কাজগুলো করতে করতে অনেক সময় লেগেছে। তাই আসতে দেরি হলো।" 

আমাকে দেখে সেই বয়স্ক মহিলা বললেন,"এই ছেলেটা কে?"

তখন সুমনা বলল,"এ হচ্ছে আমাদের এলাকার একজন ভাইয়া। এখন থেকে সে লিলু ভাইয়ের সঙ্গে থাকবে।"

সুমনার এই কথা শোনে ওই বয়স্ক মহিলা বললেন,"লিলুর কথা বলো না। কেননা কিছুদিন পরপরই লিলু একেক জনকে রুমমেট হিসেবে আনে। কিন্তু কয়েকদিন পরেই ওই রুমমেটরা চলে যায়। এখন তোমার সঙ্গে যে ছেলেটা এসেছে, সে কি লিলুর সঙ্গে ম্যাচিং করে থাকতে পারবে?"

এই কথা শোনে আমি বললাম,"আন্টি লিলু ভাই কি খুবই রাগী মানুষ?" 

তখন ওই মহিলা বললেন,"না, লিলু তেমন কোনো রাগী মানুষ না। কিন্তু সে একটু এলোমেলো টাইপের মানুষ। বেশি মানুষের সঙ্গে কথা বলে না।নিজের মতো করে চলে। মেস বাড়ির কোন বিধি-বিধান মানে না। যা খুশি তাই করে।"

আমি বললাম,"তাহলে তেমন কোন সমস্যা নাই।লিলু ভাই ওর মতো থাকবে, আর আমি আমার মতো আমি থাকবো। সেজন্য লিলু ভাইকে কোন প্রেসার ভোগ করতে হবে না। কেননা আমি খুবই শান্ত-শিষ্ট ছেলে। আমি কোন ঝামেলায় থাকিনা। কেননা ঝামেলা ছাড়াই আমি থাকতে ভালোবাসি।"

এই কথা বলে আমি মনে মনে ভাবলাম, আমি এসেছি উগ্রবাদীদেরকে গ্রেফতার করার জন্য। এখন যদি অযথাই লিলু নামের ওই রুমমেটের সঙ্গে ঝামেলায় জড়াই, তাহলে তো আরো ঝামেলা বাড়বে। তাই আমি চাচ্ছি কোন ধরনের ঝামেলাতে না জড়িয়ে সরাসরি আমার তদন্তের মধ্যে মনোনিবেশ করে রাখতে। এছাড়া আমাকে চাকরিও করতে হবে।অর্থাৎ চাকরির পাশাপাশি উগ্রবাদীদেরকে ধরার প্রক্রিয়া চালিয়ে যেতে হবে। তাই যথাযথভাবে আমাকে আমার কাজে মনোনিবেশ করে রাখতে হবে এবং যতদূর সম্ভব অন্যান্য অতিরিক্ত ঝামেলা থেকে নিজেকে মুক্ত রাখতে হবে

আমার কথা শোনে ওই বয়স্ক মহিলা বললেন, "তাহলে তুমি যদি এমন হয়ে থাকো, আমার কোন চিন্তা নাই। আমার বাড়িতে তুমি নিশ্চিন্তে থাকতে পারবা।ঝামেলাহীন মানুষই আমি বেশি ভালো পাই।" এ কথা বলার পর সুমনার দিকে তাকিয়ে তিনি বললেন, "আমাকে কিছু বাজার - সদাইকরতে হবে। আমি এখন বাজার - সদাই করতে যাচ্ছি। তোমরা যাও, গিয়ে বিশ্রাম করো।"

আরো কিছুক্ষন চলার পর আমি দেয়ালঘেরা একটা টিনশেড কলোনি বাড়ির মতো দেখতে পেলাম। এই কলোনি বাড়ির গেইটের সামনে এসে সুমনা কলিং বেল বাজালো। তখন কলিংবেলের শব্দ পেয়ে একটা মেয়ে এসে দরজা খুলে দিলো। দরজা খোলার পর সেই মেয়েটা সুমনাকে বলল, "আরে সুমনা আপু, তুমি এসেছো? তোমার জন্য আমার মন কাঁদছিলো। এতোদিন পর তুমি এলে। তোমাকে ছাড়া আমাদের ভালোই লাগেনা।"

তখন আরো কয়েকটা মেয়ে সে বলল, "আরে সুমনা এসেছে, সুমনা এসেছে।" সুমনার পাশে আমাকে দেখে একটা মেয়ে তো বলেই ফেললো,"আরে সুমনা আপু, তুমি কবে বিয়ে করেছো? বলোনি তো। বাহ,তোমার জামাই দেখতে খুবই সুন্দর।" 

তখন সুমনা মুচকি মুচকি লাজুক হেসে বলল, "আরে না, এটা আমার এলাকার ভাইয়া। তুমি এসব কী বলছো?"

 তখন মেয়েটা বললো,"আরে রাখো তোমার ভাইয়া। আমরা গার্মেন্টসে চাকরি করি। এই সকল মেয়েরা একটা জামাই এর জন্য যে কত ব্যাকুল হয়ে থাকে, একটা জামাই পেলে ওরা ধন্য হয়ে যায়। আর তুমি সঙ্গে করে এতো সুন্দর একটা ছেলে নিয়ে এসেছো, দেখবা যে দুদিন পরে তুমিও বিয়ে করতে চাবে।"

আমি ওই কথা শোনে মনে মনে চিন্তা করতে লাগলাম,"হায়রে, আমি বাংলাদেশে এসেছি পরিস্থিতির শিকার হয়ে। আর এখন এসেছি ভালুকায় উগ্রবাদীদেরকে ধরতে। কিন্তু আমাকে দেখেই বিয়ের কথাবার্তা হচ্ছে।

 আমি আরো চিন্তা করতে লাগলাম, আমি কি এখন এই স্হান থেকে পালাবো? নাকি এদের সঙ্গে থাকবো? কিন্তু পালালে কি এতো সহজে চাকরি পাবো?

 আমি চিন্তা করতে লাগলাম, এখন কী করা যায়? আমাকে কি সুমনা বিপদে ফেলবে? এটা নিয়ে চিন্তা করতে লাগলাম। এমন সময় আরেকটা মেয়ে বললো,"তোমরা কি বাইরে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকবা ভিতরে আসবা না?"

 তখন আমাকে সুমনা বললো," ভাইয়া আসেন।" এ কথা বলে সুমনা ভিতরে ঢুকলো। আমি সুমনার পিছু পিছু দেয়াল ঘেরা টিনশেড কলোনির ভিতরে ঢুকলাম। এই কলোনির দেয়ালগুলো ইট,বালু আর সিমেন্ট দিয়ে গড়া। কিন্তু উপরে টিনের চাল।তাই মোটামুটি একটু ভালোই বলা চলে।

 সুমনা হাঁটতে হাঁটতে একটা দরজার সামনে এসে দরজা খুলে বললো,"এটা হচ্ছে আমার আর আমার রুমমেটের ঘর। আপনি রুমে বসে থাকুন। লিলু ভাই এলে আপনাকে আমরা লিলু ভাইয়ের রুমে নিয়ে যাবো।"

আমি রুমের ভিতর বসে বিশ্রাম নিচ্ছিলাম। এমন সময় সেই মেয়েটি আমার রুমের ভেতরে এলো। এসে আমাকে বলল," ভাইয়া আপনার নাম কী?"

আমি বললাম,"আমার নাম কদম আলি।"

আমার নাম শুনে মেয়েটা মুচকি মুচকি হেসে বলল,"ভাইয়া, আপনার নামটা তো একেবারে গ্রামের মানুষের নামের মত।"

আমি বললাম, "আমি তো গ্রামেরই মানুষ। গ্রামে আমার জন্ম হয়েছে, আমি গ্রামেই বড় হয়েছি। তাই গ্রামের নাম বলতে আমার কোন লজ্জা অথবা দ্বিধা বোধ হয় না।"

মেয়েটা তখন আমাকে বলল,"সত্যিই ভাইয়া আপনি খুব ভালো মানুষ। গ্রামের মানুষ হয়ে নিজেকে গ্রামের মানুষ হিসেবে পরিচয় দিতে আপনার লজ্জা বোধ করেন না। কিন্তু অনেক মানুষ আছে যারা নিজেকে গ্রামের মানুষ বলে পরিচয় দিতে লজ্জা বোধ। তাই নিজেদেরকে শহরের মানুষ হিসাবে পরিচয় দেয়। এমনকি শহরের মানুষের সঙ্গে তাল মিলিয়ে নিজেরা চলে আর বলে আমরা শহরের মানুষ। কিন্তু আমিও একজন গ্রামের মানুষ গ্রামে আমার জন্ম হয়েছে গ্রামে আমি বড় হয়েছি। কিন্তু জীবিকার তাগিদে জীবিকার তাগিদে এখন এই শিল্প এলাকায় এসে গার্মেন্টসে চাকরি করে নিজের জীবিকা উপার্জন করছি।"

মেয়েটাকে আমি বললাম,"তোমার নাম কী?"

মেয়েটা বলল,"আমার নাম রূপা। এই নামে এই ভাড়া বাড়িতে এবং আমি যে গার্মেন্টসে চাকরি করি, সেই গার্মেন্টসে আমাকে সকলেই চেনে।আচ্ছা ভাইয়া তাহলে আপনি বিশ্বাস করুন আমি পরে আবার আসবো।"

এই কথা মেয়ে বলে মেয়েটা আবার বাইরে চলে গেলো।

আমি এটা মোটামুটি নিশ্চিত হলাম, আমাকে বিপদে ফেলার জন্য সুমনা আমাকে এত আদর আপ্যায়ন করছে না। কিন্তু নিশ্চয়ই কোন কারণ আছে যে কারণে সুমনা আমাকে এত আদর আপ্যায়ন করছে। সেই কারণটা এখনো স্পষ্ট হচ্ছে না।

এটা সত্য যে, মেয়ে মানুষরা ইচ্ছে করলে বিভিন্ন ছলা কলার মাধ্যমে পুরুষ মানুষকে সহজেই বিপদে ফেলতে পারে। সোনা যদি আমাকে বিপদে খেলার ইচ্ছা করত তাহলে পাশে বসে আমাকে বিপদে ফেলতে পারতো। আমার পাশের সিটে বসে কিছুক্ষণ পর সে যদি বাঁচাও বাঁচাও বলে চিৎকার করতো তাহলে বাসের লোকেরা আমাকে হয়রান করতে পারতো। কিন্তু সুমনা আমার সঙ্গে তেমন কিছু করেনি।বরং আমাকে নিজের বড় ভাইয়ের মতো শ্রদ্ধা করেছে। এর থেকে আমি মোটামুটি নিশ্চিত হয়েছি যে সুমনা আমাকে বিপদে ফেলার জন্যে এমন কিছু করছে না। আমি আরো বহুবার শুনেছি বিশেষ করে এইরকম ইন্ডাস্ট্রিয়াল এলাকায় চাকরিজীবী ছেলেদেরকে বিপদে ফেলে তাদের সর্বস্ব লুট করে নিয়ে অনেক কুচক্রী মেয়েরা। আর এই স্থানে এসে সুমণ এবং অন্যান্য মেয়েদেরকে আমার কুচক্রী বলে মনে হচ্ছে না। তাদেরকে অনেক ভালো মেয়ে মানুষ বলেই মনে হচ্ছে। যে বাড়ির মালিক নিজের ভাড়াটিয়াকে এতো আপন করে নিতে পারে, এবং ভাড়াটিয়া কেন এলো না? সেটার খোঁজ নিতে পারে, তাহলে বুঝতে হবে যে এই বাড়ির মালিকও অনেক ভালো।

তুমি এই বাড়িতে আছে একেবারে স্থায়ীভাবে থাকবো সেটা আমি এখনো ঠিক করিনি। বরং আমি মনে মনে এটা ঠিক করেছি যে, কিছুদিন আমি বেশ কিছুদিন লিলু ভাইয়ের সঙ্গে থাকবো। লিলু ভাইয়ের সঙ্গে যদি আমার ম্যাচিং হয়, তাহলে আমি অনেকদিন এই বাড়িতে থাকবো। তা না হলে, আমি সুমনার কাছ থেকে বিদায় নিয়ে অন্য কোথাও চাকরিতে যোগদান করবো এবং নতুন ভাড়া বাড়িতে বসবাস শুরু করে উগ্রবাদীদেরকে ধরার চেষ্টা করবো।

কিছুক্ষণ পর সুমনা এসে বলল,"ভাইয়া আমি যে বাজার সদাই করল কিনে নিয়ে এসেছি সেগুলো এখন রান্না করার ব্যবস্থা করছি আপনি বাথরুমে গিয়ে গোসল করে এসে বিশ্রাম করতে থাকুন।"

সুমনা এ কথা বলে ওর ছোট আলমারি থেকে একটা লাইফ বয় সাবান আর একটা তোয়ালে আমাকে দিয়ে বলল,"ভাইয়া আপনি বাথরুম থেকে গোসল করে আসুন।"

তাই সুমনের কথামত আমি তোয়ালে টা নিলাম এবং সাবান টা নিলাম নিয়ে আসতে করে রুম থেকে বের হয়ে বাড়ির উঠানে গিয়ে দাঁড়ালাম। উঠানে এগিয়ে দেখলাম দক্ষিণ পাশে কিংবা বাথরুম আর তিনটা টয়লেট। টয়লেট এর সামনে একজন পুরুষ ও মহিলা দাঁড়িয়ে আছে। আমি তাদের কাছে গিয়ে বললাম,"আমি এখন গোসল করবো, আপনারা কি গোসল করবেন?"

তখন বয়স্ক একজন পুরুষ লোক বললেন,"আমাদের কে জিজ্ঞেস করতে হবেনা। তোমার গোসল করার তুমি গোসল করে নাও। এই বাড়িতে নারী-পুরুষ কোনো ভেদাভেদ নাই। যে যখন বাথরুম খালি পায় তখন সেই বাথরুমে নিজেদের প্রয়োজনীয় কাজ করে নেয়।"

তাই আমি কথা না বাড়িয়ে একটা বাথরুমে ঢুকে পড়লাম। বাথরুমে ঢুকে শরীর ভালো করে পানিতে ভিজিয়ে নিলাম।এরপর লাইফবয় সাবান ডলে ডলে গোসল করতে লাগলাম। ভালো করে শরীর মেজে আবার পানি দিয়ে শরীর পরিষ্কার করলাম। এরপর নতুন কাপড় পরিধান করলাম। পুরনো কাপড়গুলো ভাল করে সাবান দিয়ে ধুয়ে বাথরুম থেকে বেরিয়ে এলাম।

এরপর বাড়ির উঠোনে এসে দড়িতে আমার ভেজা কাপড়গুলো টাঙিয়ে দিলাম।

আমাকে গোসল করে বাথরুম থেকে বের হয়ে আসতে দেখে অনেকগুলো নারী ও পুরুষকে দেখলাম আমার দিকে বড় বড় চোখ করে তাকিয়ে আছে। মনে হচ্ছে আমি বাথরুম থেকে গোসল করে এসে না জানি কোন কাজ করে এসেছি। আমি এই ব্যাপারে বেশি টেনশন না করে আস্তে আস্তে সমনার রুমের দিকে এগিয়ে গেলাম। এমন সময় সুমনা রান্নাঘর থেকে বেরিয়ে এসে আমার কাছে এসে বলল,"ভাইয়া আপনাকে কি এখন কেউ কিছু বলেছে?"

আমি বললাম,"না, আমাকে এখন কেউ কিছুই বলেনি।"

সুমনা বলল,"তাহলে আপনি কারোর সঙ্গে কথা না বলে রুমে গিয়ে বিশ্রাম করতে থাকুন। সময় হলে আমি আপনাকে ডেকে আনবো।"

আমি তখন বললাম,"আচ্ছা।"

একথা বলে আমি সুমনা রুমে গিয়ে সুমনার বিছানায় শুয়ে রইলাম।

সুমনার বিছানায় শুয়ে থাকতে থাকতে এক সময় ঘুমিয়ে পড়লাম।

অনেকক্ষণ পর ঘুম ভাঙলো সুমনার ডাক শোনে।সুমনা বলতে লাগলো,"ভাইয়া উঠেন উঠেন খাওয়ার সময় চলে যাচ্ছে।"

সুমনার ডাক শোনে আমি জেগে উঠলাম। আমি জাগার পর সুমনা বলল,"ভাইয়া, গার্মেন্টসে চাকরি হলে আপনাকে যথাযথ সময়ে ঘুম থেকে উঠতে হবে, ঘুম থেকে উঠার বেলায় কোন দেরি করা চলবে না। তবে প্রথম প্রথম এমন একটু হয়। কিন্তু যখন আস্তে আস্তে অভ্যাস হয়ে যায়, তখন আর ডেকে তুলতে হয় না। সকলেই ঠিক সময়ে ঘুমায় আবার ঠিক সময়ে ঘুম থেকে উঠে নাস্তা করে কাজে যোগদান করে। একসময় দেখবেন যে আপনারও টাইমটেবিল ঠিক হয়ে গেছে।"

সুমনার কথা শোনে আমি মনে মনে হাসলাম। আমি এসপিওনাজ জগতের একজন অফিসার। টাইমটেবিল মেনটেন করে আমাকে চলতে হয়। সময় মতো ঘুমানো, সময় মতো ঘুম থেকে উঠা প্রভৃতি কাজ আমাকে ম্যানেজ করেই চলতে হয়। সুমনা জানে না আর আমিও কেন যাই সুমনাকে বলতে। তাই সুমনা যে কথাগুলো বলল, সেগুলো আমি মনোযোগ দিয়ে শোনার ভান করলাম।

আমি বিছানা থেকে উঠলাম। উঠে কুলি করলাম আর পানির ঝাপটা দিয়ে চোখ ধোলাম। এরপর বিছানায় উঠে আমি বসলাম। বিছানার মধ্যে একটা অতিরিক্ত কাপড় বিছিয়ে এর উপরে সুমনা ভাতের গামলা, মাংস ভুনার বাটি রাখল আর মাছ ভাজার প্লেট রাখলো।

সঙ্গে দিলো লেবু, শসা আর কাঁচা মরিচ। আমি তৃপ্তি সহকারে সেগুলো খাইতে লাগলাম। কিন্তু একটা বিষয় আমি দেখলাম, আমাকে সুমনা খাওয়ালেও নিজে খাচ্ছে না। তাই সুমনাকে আমি বললাম,"সুমনা, আমাকে তুমি খাওয়াচ্ছো, অথচ তুমি খাচ্ছো না কেন?"

আমার কথা শুনে সুমনা বলল,"ভাইয়া, আপনি আমার মেহমান। আপনাকে না খাইয়ে আমি কীভাবে খাই? তাই আমি আপনাকে আগে খাইয়ে এরপর আমি খাবো।"

আমি তখন বললাম,"সুমনা, তুমি খাচ্ছো না ,এটা দেখে আমার খুবই আপসেট বোধ হচ্ছে। আমি খাচ্ছি, অথচ তুমি দাড়িয়ে আছো। তুমি যদি আমার সামনে এখন না খাও, তাহলে আমি মনে খুবই কষ্ট পাবো।"

তখন সুমনা আমার অনুরোধে খাইতে বসলো।

আমরা দুজন যখন খাচ্ছিলাম, তখন কয়েকজন মহিলা চুপিচুপি আমাদেরকে দেখছিলো।

ওরা এমনভাবে আমাদেরকে দেখছিলো, যেন আমরা দুজন না জানি কী করছি?

ওদের এরকম আচরণ দেখে সুমনার দিকে আমি তাকালাম। অর্থাৎ সুমনাকে আমি বোঝাতে চাইলাম, ওরা কী বলতে চাচ্ছে? মূলত ওরা আমাদেরকে নিয়ে কী মাইন্ড করছে?

তখন সুমনা মাথা নিচু করে খাইতে খাইতে খুবই মৃদু স্বরে বলল,"ভাইয়া, আপনি ওদের দিকে তাকাবেন না। ওরা ওদের মতো যা খুশি তাই করুক। আপনি ওদের আচরণ দেখে দ্বিধাদ্বন্দ্বে ভুগবেন না। শিল্প এলাকার মানুষের আচার-আচরণ অনেক রকম হয়ে থাকে। ওদের আচার আচরণ দ্বারা প্রভাবিত হলে ক্ষতি হবে, কিন্তু তেমন কোনো লাভ হবে না।"

এ কথা শুনে আমি বুঝলাম, সুমনা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় অথবা কলেজে পড়াশোনা না করলেও নিজের কর্ম জীবনের অভিজ্ঞতার মাধ্যমে মানুষের আচার-আচরণ সম্পর্কে অনেক জ্ঞান ও অভিজ্ঞতা অর্জন করেছে।

এখন সুমনা যে কথা বলেছে, সেটা একজন জ্ঞানী মানুষের মতোই বলেছে। এমনকি অনেক শিক্ষিত মানুষ আছে, যারা অযথাই মানুষের আচার-আচরণ নিয়ে ঘাটাঘাটি করে। তাছাড়া মানুষের আচার-আচরণ নিয়ে অযথা সন্দেহ করে এবং মানুষের উপর মিথ্যাচার আরোপ করে।

অনেক মানুষ আছে যারা অনেক শিক্ষাদীক্ষা অর্জন করে। কিন্তু নিজের কিছু বিভ্রান্তি ও বাজে অভ্যাস ছাড়তে পারেনা। কিছু কিছু ক্ষেত্রে নিজের স্বভাবকেও উন্নত করতে পারে না।

কিছুক্ষণ পর আমি ও সুমনা খাওয়া শেষ করলাম।

একটু পর রূপা এসে বলল,"সুমনা আপু, অবস্থা খুবই খারাপ। কদম ভাইয়ার গোসল করা নিয়ে নানান কথাবার্তা শুরু হয়েছে। কয়েকজন বলাবলি করছে, সুমনার বিয়ে হয়নি ,তাহলে ছেলেটা এসে গোসল করলো কেন?"

আমি বললাম,"এটা কোন কথা হলো? জার্নি করে এসেছি, তাই গোসল করেছি। এটা নিয়ে কেন এ রকম কথাবার্তা হচ্ছে?"

সুমনা বলল,"কারা কারা এ রকম কথা বলছে?"

সুমনার কথা শোনে রূপা তখন কয়েকজনের নাম বলল।

নামগুলো শোনে সুমনা বলল,"আমি পরে তাদের সঙ্গে কথা বলবো।ওদের স্বভাবই হচ্ছে এ রকম। লোকজনের ছোটোখাটো ব্যাপার নিয়ে বড় ধরনের বাজে কথা বলে।"

রূপা বলল,"ছেলে মেয়েরা যখন গার্মেন্টসের যাওয়া আসা করে, তখনো ওরা নানান ধরনের বাজে কথা বলে। এ ব্যাপারে আমি আমাদের ফ্যাক্টরির ডিজিএম স্যারের সঙ্গে কথা বলেছিলাম। তখন ডিজিএম স্যার বলেছিলেন, 'গার্মেন্টসে চাকরি করলে চাকরির স্থানে, বসবাসের স্থানে আর নিজের গ্রামের বাড়িতে অনেক ধরনের কথাবার্তা হয়। এসব কথাবার্তা শোনলে গার্মেন্টসে চাকরি করা সহজ হবে না। তোমাদেরকে পিছন থেকে শোনিয়ে শোনিয়ে হরেক রকম মানুষ নানান ধরনের বাজে কথা বলবে। এ রকম বাজে কথায় তোমরা কখনই কান দেবে না। স্মরণে রাখবে, এ রকম বাজে কথায় কান না দিলে চাকরি ক্ষেত্রে সফল হওয়া যায়।' ডিজিএম স্যারের এ কথা শোনার পর থেকে আমরা কয়েকজন ওই মানুষদের বাজে কথায় কখনোই কান দিই না।"

সুমনা বলল,"আমাদের ফ্যাক্টরিতেও একবার আমাদের জিএম স্যার এ ব্যাপারে আলোচনা করেছিলেন। তখন আমরা সবেমাত্র গার্মেন্টসের চাকরিতে যোগ দিয়েছি। এরপর থেকে আমিও মানুষের বাজে কথা থেকে সাবধান হয়ে চলি।"

এরইমধ্যে সেই বয়স্ক মহিলা এসে বললেন,"কী ব্যাপার সুমনা? তোমাদের ব্যাপারে এসব কী শোনছি?"

সুমনা তখন জিজ্ঞেস করলো,"আমাদের ব্যাপারে আপনি কী শোনেছেন খালা?"

খালা বললেন,"তোমরা বিয়ে করোনি, অথচ স্বামীস্ত্রীর মতো আচরণ করছো। এটা নিয়ে বেশ সমালোচনা হচ্ছে।"

সুমনা বলল,"এটা সম্পূর্ণ একটা গুজব। আপনাদের এই বাড়িতে কিছু লোক আছে, যারা মানুষের ব্যাপারে সত্যমিথ্যার গুজব রটায়। চাকরি করার পর এদের কাজই হচ্ছে মানুষের ব্যাপারে সত্যমিথ্যার গুজব রটিয়ে মজা লুটা।"

খালা বললেন,"তোমার এই কথাটাও সত্য। কিন্তু বাড়ি ভাড়ার টাকার জন্য এ ধরনের লোকদেরকে আমি কিছু বলি না। তোমাদের আঙ্কেলকেও এ ধরনের লোকের ব্যাপারে নীরব থাকতে হচ্ছে। তবে আরো বেশ কিছুদিন পর ওই ধরনের লোকদের ব্যাপারে আমরা একটা ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করবো। তখন ওদেরকে আমরা বলে দেবো, যদি পারো ভদ্রভাবে আমাদের বাড়িতে থাকো। যদি ভদ্র ভাবে না থাকতে পারো, তাহলে আমাদের বাড়ি ছেড়ে দিয়ে তোমরা তোমাদের পছন্দ মত অন্য কোথাও ভাড়াবাড়ি নিয়ে নাও।"

রূপা বলল,"আমারও একই মত। এভাবে চলতে থাকলে ভদ্র পরিবেশ আর থাকবে না। তাই এই ভাড়া বাড়ির ভদ্র পরিবেশ রক্ষার জন্য অবশ্যই ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করতে হবে।"

আমি বললাম,"সুমনা, আমি বরং তোমাদের পাশের লিলু ভাইয়ের রুমে চলে যাই। তাহলে এই ধরনের গুজব আর রটবে না।"

আমার এ কথা শুনে সুমনা বলল,"ভাইয়া, লিলু ভাইয়ের রুমের চাবি আমার কাছে নাই। লিলু ভাই এলে যত তাড়াতাড়ি সম্ভব ওর রুমে আপনার থাকার ব্যবস্থা করে দেব। বিকেল হলেই লিলু ভাই চলে আসবেন আর আমার রুমমেট ময়নাও চলে আসবে।"

এ কথা শোনার পর খালা আর রূপা রুম থেকে বেরিয়ে গেলো।

সুমনাকে আমি বললাম,"সুমনা তুমি আমাকে যে আদর আপ্যায়ন করেছো, তাতে আমি অবশ্যই বিস্মিত হয়েছি। মাত্র একদিনের পরিচয়ে মানুষ মানুষকে এতো কাছে টেনে নিতে পারে, সেটা আমি আগে কখনো দেখিনি। তোমাকে ধন্যবাদ জানানোর ভাষা আমার নাই।"

সুমনা বলল,"ভাইয়া, এগুলো বলে আমাকে লজ্জা দিবেন না। আপনাকে দেখে কেন জানি আমার আপন লোক বলে মনে হচ্ছে। আপনার সঙ্গে আমার পরিচয় একদিনের না, যেন বহুদিনের বলে মনে হচ্ছে।"

আমি অত্যন্ত বিনয়ের সঙ্গে বললাম,"কথায় আছে, মানুষ মানুষকে কোন স্বার্থ ছাড়া অথবা বিনিময় ছাড়া কিছু দেয় না অথবা কোন উপকার করে না। আমি বলতে চাচ্ছি না যে, তুমি কোন বাজে উদ্দেশ্য আমাকে এতো আপন করে নিয়েছো। তবে আমার জানতে খুব ইচ্ছে করছে তুমি কেন আমাকে এতো আদর আপ্যায়ন করছো? সত্যি কি তোমার কোন উদ্দেশ্য আছে? যদি থেকে থাকে তাহলে আমাকে বলো।"

আমার এই কথা শুনে সুমনা বলল,"ভাইয়া, কোন উদ্দেশ্য নাই, এরকম না। হ্যাঁ উদ্দেশ্য তো আছেই, তবে সেটা কোন খারাপ উদ্দেশ্য না। আপনাকে বিপদে ফেলার জন্য অথবা অন্য কোন কারণে আমি আপনাকে আদর আপ্যায়ন করছি না। আমার বাড়ি ময়মনসিংহ জেলার মুক্তাগাছায়। কিন্তু আমার কোন ভাইবোন নাই।মা আছে, কিন্তু বাবা মারা গিয়েছেন। তাই আমার প্রটেকশনের জন্য একজন বিশ্বস্ত মানুষের দরকার, টাকার বিনিময়ে না হোক, অন্তত মানবতার খাতিরে আমাকে একটু নিরাপত্তা দেবে। সেই উদ্দেশ্যেই আমি আপনাকে এই স্থানে নিয়ে এসেছি এবং আদর আপ্যায়ন করছি। যাতে আপনাকে দেখিয়ে বলতে পারি আপনি আমার ভাই। ফলে কোন দুষ্কৃতিকারী আমাকে কোন ক্ষতি করার সাহস পাবে না। মূলত এই কারণে আমি আপনাকে এই স্থানে নিয়ে এসে আদর আপ্যায়ন করছি। যদিও মানুষের বিভিন্ন ধরনের সন্দেহ করছে। কিন্তু আমি সেই সন্দেহ আমলে নিচ্ছি না।"

আমি বললাম,"তুমি ইচ্ছে করলে তো আমার পরিবর্তে লিলু ভাইকে ইউজ করতে পারতে। তাহলে কেন তুমি আমার জন্য টাকা খরচ করে এতো খাবার-দাবারের আয়োজন করছো? আবার আমার জন্য চাকরির ব্যবস্থা করছো?"

সুমনা বলল,"লিলু ভাই লোক হিসেবে খারাপ না। কিন্তু লিলু ভাইয়ের সঙ্গে আমার বান্ধবী ময়নার এক ধরনের গোপন সম্পর্ক চলছে। এই কারণে ওদের দুজনের মধ্যে যে কোন একটা ঘটনা ঘটে যেতে পারে। বিশেষ করে ওরা দুজন বিবাহ বন্ধনে আবদ্ধ হতে পারে। তাই আমি আমার প্রটেকশনের জন্য লিলু ভাইকে ইউজ করতে পারবো না। যদি আমি তাকে ইউজ করি, তাহলে আমাকেই ঝামেলায় জড়াতে হতে পারে।"

আমি বললাম,"লিলু ভাইয়ের সঙ্গে যে তোমার রুমমেট ময়নার সম্পর্ক চলছে, সেটা কি এই ভাড়া বাড়ির লোকেরা জানে?"

সুমনা মুচকি মুচকি হেসে বলল,"ভাড়া বাড়ির সকলেই এই ব্যাপারটা জানে। আর জানে বলেই ওদের ব্যাপারে এই ভাড়া বাড়ির লোকজন খুবই সতর্ক আছে। তবে ওদের মধ্যে কোন অনৈতিক সম্পর্ক চলছে না। তাই এই বাড়ির লোকজন লিলু ভাই আর ময়নাকে বেশি কিছু বলার সাহস পাচ্ছে না। গোপন সংবাদের ভিত্তিতে আমি জানতে পেরেছি যে, লিলু ভাই আর ময়না যদি কোন ধরনের অনৈতিক ও অবৈধ কাজ করে তবে তাদেরকে পাকড়াও করবে। এই বিষয়টা ওরা দুজন জানার পর খুবই সতর্ক হয়েছে। ওদের দুজনকে আমি পরামর্শ দিয়েছি যে, কোন ধরনের অনৈতিক ও অবৈধ কাজ করার চেয়ে ওরা যেন বিয়ে করে নেয়।"

সুমনাকে আমি সমর্থন করার ভঙ্গিতে বললাম,"তুমি একেবারে ঠিক পরামর্শই দিয়েছো। কোন অনৈতিক ও অবৈধ কাজ করে পাকড়াও হওয়ার চেয়ে বিয়ে করে নেয়া সবচেয়ে ভালো।"

আমি বুঝলাম, সুমনা কলেজ অথবা ভার্সিটিতে পড়াশোনা না করলেও নৈতিকতা ও বৈধতা সম্পর্কে প্রত্যক্ষ জ্ঞান অর্জন করতে পেরেছে।

সুমনা বলল,"আমরা চাকরি করে খাই, থাকি অন্য লোকের বাড়িতে টাকার বিনিময়ে ভাড়াটিয়া হিসেবে। এরকম পরিস্থিতিতে অনৈতিক ও অবৈধ কাজে আমরা যদি জড়িয়ে যাই, তাহলে আমাদের চাকরিও চলে যাবে আর ভাড়া বাড়িতেও থাকা হবে না। উল্টো আমাদেরকে জেলখানায় যেতে হবে। তাই একটু কষ্ট করে হলেও নিজেদেরকে অনৈতিক ও অবৈধ কাজ থেকে দূরে রাখার চেষ্টা করি।"

কিছুক্ষণ পর বাড়ির এরিয়ার ভিতরে একজন মেয়ে মানুষের চিৎকার শুনলাম। সেই ধমকানো শুনে সুমন বলল, "ময়না আপা এসেছে।"

শুনতে পেলাম মেয়েটা চিৎকার করতে করতে এই রুমের দিকে এগিয়ে আসছে। অবশেষে আমাদের সামনে দরজার মধ্যে দাঁড়িয়ে মেয়েটা বলল,"কার এত বড় সাহস আমাদের ব্যাপারে বাজে কথা বলে? আমরা গার্মেন্টসে কাজ করে খাই। আমরা কি খারাপ? নাকি ময়মনসিংহ গাঙ্গিনাপাড় এর বারীপ্লাজার সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকি? আমাদের ভেতরে আরেকবার যে খারাপ কথা বলবে তাকে আমরা দেখে নেব।"

ময়না আপা আমার দিকে তাকিয়ে বলল,"আমি তোমার ব্যাপারে শুনেছি। তবে তোমার পরিচয়টা আমাকে এখন বল।"

আমি বললাম,"কদম আলি। ময়মনসিংহের ধোবাউড়ায়।"

ময়না আপা বলল,"তাহলে তো ঠিকই আছে। ময়মনসিংহে গৌরীপুরে। আমি গৌরীপুরের মেয়ে। আমি কেউকে ভয় পাই না। সুমনার বাড়ি ময়মনসিংহের মুক্তাগাছায়। আর তোমার বাড়ি ময়মনসিংহের ধোবাউড়ায়। এবং আমরা চাকরি করি ময়মনসিংহের ভালুকায়। আমরা কেন মানুষকে ভয় পাবো? ভালুকায় কেউকে ভয় পাওয়ার কোনো প্রশ্নই আসে না। ।এখন থেকে কেউ তোমার পরিচয় জিজ্ঞেস করলে বলবে, আমি ময়না আপার ভাই।"

আমি মনে মনে হাসতে হাসতে ভাবলাম, আঞ্চলিক গ্রুপিং শুরু হয়ে গিয়েছে। ওদের আঞ্চলিক গ্ৰুপিংয়ে আমি একটা বাহানা মাত্র। তবে আমি ওদের আঞ্চলিক দ্বন্দ্বে কখনোই জড়াব না। চেষ্টা করব সব সময় আমাদের আঞ্চলিকতা বর্জন করে চলার। এমনকি একেবারেই প্রয়োজন না হলে আমার বাড়ি যে ধোবাউড়া সেটাও বলব না। এবং ময়না আপা আমার বোন পরিচয় দিয়েছে সেটাও বলব না। এই আঞ্চলিক গ্রুপিং অবশেষে রেষারেষিতে পরিণত না হলেই ভালো হয়। বিভিন্ন দেশের শিল্পাঞ্চলে সামান্য বিষয় নিয়েও আঞ্চলিকতার দ্বন্দ্ব ও সংঘাত ঘটে।এটা আমি ভালো করেই জানি।

ময়না আপাকে আমি বললাম,"তাহলে তো ভালোই হলো। আমি আরও একটা বোন পেলাম। সুমনা আমাকে ভাই বানিয়েছে আর তুমিও আমাকে এখন ভাই বানালে। আমি এখন দুটো বোন নিয়ে এখানে নিশ্চিন্তে থাকতে পারব।"

এমন সময় খালা এসে উপস্থিত হলেন।খালাকে ময়না আপা জিজ্ঞেস করল,"আমার ভাই ধোবাউড়া থেকে এসেছে। কার এতো বড় সাহস আমার ভাইকে নিয়ে এমন খারাপ কথা বলে?"

খালা বললেন," আমাদের এই বাড়িতে যারা মানুষের ছোটখাটো বিষয় নিয়ে বড় ধরনের সমালোচনা করে ওরাই তোমার ভাই কদম আলিকে নিয়ে আজ বাজে কথা বলেছে। আর ওদের সঙ্গে দল বেঁধে অন্যরাও উস্কানি দিয়েছে।"

এমন সময় কাছাকাছি দূরত্বে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকা একজন মহিলাকে দেখে খালা বললেন,"এই মহিলাটাও ওদের সঙ্গে দল বেঁধেছে। আর উস্কানি দিয়ে সমালোচনাকারীদেরকে উত্তেজিত করেছে।"

তখন ওই মহিলাকে ময়না আপা ডেকে এনে বলল," এরপর যদি আমার ভাইকে নিয়ে কোন বাজে কথা বল, তাহলে তোমাকে আমি দেখে নেব। আজ ভদ্রভাবে নিষেধ করলাম। কিন্তু আরেকবার তোমার সঙ্গে আমার বড় ধরনের ঝগড়া হবে।"

তখন ওই মহিলাটা ভয়ে ভয়ে বলল," আচ্ছা ঠিক আছে। এখন থেকে তোমার ভাইয়ের ব্যাপারে যে যত কথাই বলুক আমি কখনো কেউকে উস্কানি দেব না।"

ময়না আপা বলল,"তোমার তো এটা এক ধরনের স্বভাবে পরিণত হয়েছে যে, কারোর ব্যাপারে কোন ধরনের সমালোচনা হলে সমালোচনাকারীদের আশে পাশে দাঁড়িয়ে উস্কানি দেওয়া।"

এ কথা শোনে মহিলাটা নিজের ঘরে চলে গেল।

ওই মহিলা চলে যাওয়ার পর সিস্টার ময়না বলল,"লিলু ব্রাদারের ঘরের চাবি আমার কাছে আছে। কদম আলি, তুমি এখন আমার সঙ্গে আসো আমি তোমাকে লিলু ব্রাদারের ঘরে থাকার ব্যবস্থা করে দিচ্ছি।"

 লিলু ব্রাদারের সঙ্গে সিস্টার ময়নার গভীর এফেয়ার চলছে। লিলু ব্রাদারের রুমের চাবি সিস্টার ময়নার কাছে থাকা স্বাভাবিক।

 সুমনা বলল,"ঠিক আছে। ভাইয়া আপনি এখন লিলু ব্রাদারের রুমে গিয়ে বিশ্রাম করুন।"

 তাই আমি সিস্টার ময়না আর পিছু পিছু গিয়ে লিলু ব্রাদারের রুমের সামনে গিয়ে দাঁড়ালাম। সিস্টার ময়না একটা চাবি নিয়ে লিলু ব্রাদারের দরজাটা খুলল।

 লিলু ব্রাদারের রুমের ভিতর সিস্টার ময়না ঢোকার পর আমিও ঢুকলাম।

 রুমের ভিতরে ঢুকে দেখলাম অবস্থা অন্যরকম। এটা কি গার্মেন্টস এর চাকরিজীবীর রুম, নাকি কোন বাউল গায়ক এর রুম, আমি কিছুটা দ্বিধাগ্রস্ত হয়ে গেলাম। কেননা রুমের ভেতর হারমোনিয়াম, বেহালা আর একতারা দেখতে পেলাম।

 সিস্টার ময়নাকে আমি জিজ্ঞেস করলাম,"লিলু ব্রাদারের রুমের ভেতর বাদ্যযন্ত্র কেন?"

 আমারে কথা শুনে সিস্টার ময়না লাজুক হেসে বলল,"লিলু ব্রাদার গার্মেন্টসে চাকরি করার পাশাপাশি গান-বাজনাও করে। ছুটির দিনে সন্ধ্যা বেলায় লিলু ভাইয়ের এই রুমে ছোটখাটো একটা গানের আসর বসে। গার্মেন্টসের চাকরিতে ঢোকার আগেই নীলফামারী ডিস্ট্রিক্ট এ নিজেদের বাড়িতে থাকা অবস্থাতেই লিলু ব্রাদার গান- বাজনা করত। জীবন ও জীবিকার তাগিদে ভালুকায় এসে গার্মেন্টসে চাকরি করলেও লিলু ব্রাদার এখনো গান-বাজনা ত্যাগ করতে পারেনি। বরং গার্মেন্টস চাকরির পাশাপাশি গান বাজনা করার ইচ্ছা ওর যেন বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে। কথায় কথায় লিলু ব্রাদার এ কথাটি আমাকে একবার বলেছিল।"

 আমি মনে মনে ভাবলাম, সেটা তো বলবেই। যার সঙ্গে এফেয়ার চলছে, তাকে কি আর এগুলো না বললে চলে?

 সিস্টার ময়না বলল,"লিলু ব্রাদার এর মতে,'গান হচ্ছে আত্মার খোরাক। গান ছাড়া আত্মা উজ্জীবিত হতে পারে না। তাই কাজের অবসরে গান-বাজনা করলে আত্মা শুদ্ধ থাকে। এবং পরবর্তীতে কাজের জন্য আত্মা উজ্জীবিত হয়।' তাই আমি লিলু ব্রাদারকে গান-বাজনা করতে নিষেধ করি না।"

 আমি বললাম,"লিলু ব্রাদার যেটা মনে করেন সেটা উনার এবং উনার মতবাদের ব্যক্তিদের নিজস্ব ব্যাপার। গানের মাধ্যমে আত্মা উজ্জীবিত হয় এবং আত্মা শুদ্ধ থাকে, এসব কথাবার্তা হচ্ছে কোন মতাদর্শের লোকদের নিজস্ব মতামত। এগুলোতে বিশ্বাস করতে হবে এমন কোনো ধরাবাধা নিয়ম নাই। আচ্ছা আমি যদি লিলু ব্রাদার এর সঙ্গে থাকি, তাহলে কি আমাকে ওনার সঙ্গে গানবাজনায় অংশগ্রহণ করতেই হবে? এটা কি বাধ্যতামূলক?"

 আমার এ কথা শুনে সিস্টার ময়না আমতা আমতা করে বলল," আমাদের লিলু ব্রাদার একটু একগুঁয়ে টাইপের মানুষ। নিজে যা মনে করেন সেটাকেই সঠিক মনে করে। এই কারণেই ওর সঙ্গে আমরা কথা কাটাকাটি করি না ।এখন সে যদি মনে করে ওর সঙ্গে থাকতে হলে ওর গান -বাজনার আসরে তোমাকে অংশগ্রহণ করতে হবে , তাহলে সেটা কি তোমার কাছে খারাপ লাগবে?"

 আমি বললাম," আমি আমি একজন মধ্যপন্থী মানুষ। ধর্মীয় বিষয় নিয়ে বাড়াবাড়ি যেমন করি না, তেমনি ধর্মের সঙ্গে সম্পর্ক নাই এমন বিষয়ের বিরোধিতার ক্ষেত্রেও বাড়াবাড়ি করি না। তাই অপশনাল বিষয় হিসেবে লিলু ব্রাদার এর গানের আসরে বসতে আমার তেমন কোন আপত্তি নাই। লিলু ব্রাদার যেন তিনির গান-বাজনাকে আমার উপর আবশ্যিক বিষয় হিসাবে যেন চাপিয়ে না দেন, এটুকু হলেই হবে।"

 আমার এ কথা শুনে সিস্টার ময়না বলল," বাহ তোমার মন মানসিকতা তো বেশ ভালো ।তুমি কোন বিষয়ে বাড়াবাড়ি কর না ।অথচ আমাদের চেনা পরিচিত অনেক মানুষ আছে যারা ছোটখাটো বিষয় নিয়ে বড় ধরনের বাড়াবাড়ি করে ।এ রকম বাড়াবাড়ি করতে করতে বড় ধরনের সমস্যা তৈরি করে । কিন্তু তোমাকে দেখছি একেবারে মধ্যপন্থী মানুষ। তোমার মত মধ্যপন্থী মানুষের সঙ্গে লিলু ব্রাদার কোন ধরনের সমস্যা করবে বলে মনে হয় না। আর যদি আদৌ কোনো সমস্যা তৈরি করে তাহলে আমার মনে হয় অল্পতেই তোমার সঙ্গে মিটমাট করে নেবে।"

 এ কথা বললে সিস্টার ময়না নিজের মোবাইলে সময় দেখে বলল,"লিলু ব্রাদার আর কিছুক্ষণ পরেই আসবে। বামপাশের খাটের উপর নিলু ভাই ঘুমায়। তুমি ডান পাশের খাটের বিছানাটা ভালো করে সাজিয়ে নাও। প্রথম প্রথম লিলু ব্রাদার যদি তোমার সঙ্গে কড়াকড়িভাবে আলাপ করে তাহলে তুমি লিলু ব্রাদারের সঙ্গে রাগ কর না। কেননা লিলু ব্রাদারকে বাহ্যিকভাবে দেখলে বদমেজাজি বলে মনে হয়। আবার ওর মেজাজ যখন গরম থাকে তখন মানুষের সঙ্গে কড়াকড়িভাবে কথা বলে। মূলত লিলু ব্রাদার একজন বাউল কবি ও গায়কও বটে। যখন লিলু ব্রাদার নতুন কোন গান রচনার জন্য গভীরভাবে চিন্তা মগ্ন থাকে , মূলত তখনই ওর মেজাজটা গরম হয়ে থাকে। তাই হঠাৎ হঠাৎ মানুষের সঙ্গে কড়াকড়িভাবে কথা বলে। প্রথম প্রথম লিলু ব্রাদারের সঙ্গে যারা পরিচিত হয় ওরা এরকম আচরণ অত্যন্ত হতবাক হয়। কিন্তু যখন লিলু ব্রাদারের সঙ্গে সম্পর্ক ভালো হয়ে যায়, তখন ওরা বুঝতে পারে লিলু ব্রাদারের মনটা অনেক ভালো। তখন লিলু ব্রাদারের সঙ্গে গানের আসরে বসতে দ্বিধাবোধ করে না।"

 আমি বললাম," তাহলে কি আমার আগে যারা লিলু ব্রাদারের সঙ্গে এই রুমে থাকতে এসেছিল, ওরা কি লিলু ভাইয়ের কড়া আলাপের কারণেই চলে গিয়েছিল?"

 সিস্টার ময়না বলল," যারা চলে গিয়েছে ওরা আসলে বাউল গানের কিছুই বোঝেনা ।লিলু ব্রাদারের মেজাজ বুঝবে তো দূরের কথা। তাই এক্ষেত্রে লিলু ভাইকে কখনই দোষ দেওয়া চলে না। তুমি বুদ্ধিমান ছেলে। লিলু ভাইয়ের সঙ্গে থাকতে থাকতে তাকে সহজেই তুমি বুঝতে পারবে। প্রথম প্রথম লিলু ব্রাদারের কড়া আলাপের কারণে আমি অত্যন্ত কষ্ট পেতাম। কিন্তু কিছুদিন যাওয়ার পর লিলু ব্রাদার এর বাউল মন যখন আমি বুঝতে পারলাম তখন বুঝলাম মূলত লিলু ব্রাদার অত্যন্ত ভালো মানুষ। যার মন আকাশের মতো বিশাল। আর কবিদের মন তো আকাশের মতোই বিশাল হয়। এবং তিনি একজন গায়কও বটে।"

 আমি বললাম," নিলু ভাই যে গার্মেন্টসে চাকরি করার পাশাপাশি বাউল গানের আসর বসায় তাতে কি ওর কোন সমস্যা হয় না?"

 সিস্টার ময়না বলল ,"আমারও প্রথম প্রথম এমনই মনে হতো ।কিন্তু যখন লিলু ব্রাদারকে আমি এ রকম প্রশ্ন করেছিলাম তখন লিলু ব্রাদার বলেছিল," আমি চাকরি করার পাশাপাশি গান গাই ,কবিতা লিখি। কারোর বাড়িতে চুরি করি না ।এছাড়া আমি গার্মেন্টসে আমার কাজ ঠিক মতো করি ।আর বিভিন্ন সময়ে গার্মেন্টসে গানের আয়োজন করা হয়‌। তাই আমার সমস্যা হবে তো দূরের কথা, একদিন এমন হবে যে আমিও ঐ সকল গার্মেন্টসের গানের অনুষ্ঠানে আমার নিজের লেখা গান পরিবেশন করব।' সেদিন আমি লিলু ব্রাদারের ওই আত্মবিশ্বাসী কথা শুনে সত্যিই চমৎকৃত হয়েছিলাম।"

 ময়না সিস্টারের এ কথা শোনার পর আমি বিছানা ঠিক করতে শুরু করলাম। বিছানার উপর একটা খমক ছিল ।সেই খমকটা সরিয়ে রুমের ভিতরের ছোট টেবিলের উপরে রাখলাম। আরো কয়েকটা অপ্রয়োজনীয় জিনিস ছিল। সেগুলো তুলে টেবিলের উপর রাখলাম।

 আমার বিছানা ঠিক করা দেখে সিস্টার ময়না বলল," বাহ, তুমি তো বেশ ভালো করে বিছানা ঠিক করতে পারো। অনেক ছেলে মানুষ আছে যারা বিছানা একটু ঠিক করতে পারে না। শুধু ছেলেদেরকে দোষ দিয়ে কী লাভ? অনেক মেয়ে মানুষও আছে যারা নিজেদের বিছানাটাও ঠিক মতো সাজাতে পারে না।"

 এমন সময় এক লোক দরজার সামনে এসে আমাকে দেখে বলল,"তুমি কে? কোথা থেকে আমার রুমে এসেছো?"

দরজার সামনে যাকে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকতে দেখলাম, সেই লোকটা দেখতে একেবারে বাউল কবি ও গায়কদের মতোই। মাথায় লম্বা চুল একেবারে পিঠের কাছাকাছি নামানো। মুখ সেভ করা। কিন্তু বড় বড় গোঁফ আছে। বড় বড় চোখে ঢুলুঢুলুভাবে আমার দিকে তাকিয়ে আছে ।আমি এই লোকের প্রশ্নের রিপ্লাইয়ে বললাম," আমি কদম আলি। সিস্টার ময়নার ভাই।"

দরজায় দাঁড়ানো লোকটার কথা শুনে আমি বললাম," আমি হলাম সিস্টার ময়নার ভাই । আমার নাম কদম আলি।"

আমার কথা শুনে দরজায় দাঁড়ানো লোকটা হেঃ হেঃ করে হেসে বলল," তোমার সিস্টার ময়নার ভাই ব্রাদারের কোন শেষ নাই। কয়েকদিন পর পর এক জায়গা থেকে একেকটা ভাই আনে আর আমার রুমে থাকার ব্যবস্থা করে। কিন্তু কিছুদিন পরেই তোমার সিস্টার ময়নার ভাইয়েরা চলে যায়।"

এই কথা শুনে সিস্টার ময়না বলল,"লিলু ব্রাদার ,তুমি কেন অযথাই আমার এই ভাইটাকে দ্বিধাগ্রস্ত করছো? তোমার সঙ্গে যদি কেউ ম্যাচিং করতে না পারে ,তাহলে সে চলে যাবে। এটা নিয়ে আবার এতো কথা বলার কোন দরকার আছে? সকলেই কি তোমার মতো গান বাজনা নিয়ে ব্যস্ত থাকে? তুমি তো গার্মেন্টসে কাজ করে আসো। আসার পর তুমি তোমার সঙ্গীত চর্চা নিয়ে থাকো।কখনো বাঁশি বাজাও ,কখনো হারমোনিয়াম বাজাও। আবার কখনো বেহালা বাজাও। তাই বলে তোমার রুমমেটকে তোমার সঙ্গে গান বাজনা নিয়ে মগ্ন থাকতে হবে ?এই পর্যন্ত যারা তোমার রুম থেকে চলে গিয়েছে, ওরা তো তোমার সঙ্গে গান-বাজনার তাল মেলাতে না পেরেই চলে গেছে। এছাড়া ওদের কি আর কোন দোষ ছিল?"

একথা শুনে দরজায় দাড়ানো লিলু ব্রাদার বললো," তা ঠিক, ওরা ভালো লোক ছিল। কিন্তু আমার সঙ্গে গান বাজনার তাল মিলাতে না পেরে, কিছুটা বিরক্ত হয়েই চলে গিয়েছে। এছাড়া ওদের আর কোন সমস্যা ছিল না।"

আমি বললাম ,"লিলু ব্রাদার, আমি সঙ্গীত অর্থাৎ গান-বাজনা ততটা চর্চা না করলেও কিছুটা হলেও উপভোগ করি। তাই আপনি যখন সঙ্গীত চর্চা করবেন, তখন আমার যদি ভালো লাগে, তাহলে আমি আমার বিছানায় বসে থেকে উপভোগ করব। আর যদি কোন সময় আপনার সঙ্গীতচর্চা আমার ভালো না লাগে তখন আমি বাইরে থেকে হাঁটাহাঁটি করে আসব। তাতে আপনার কোন আপত্তি আছে কি?"

লিলু ব্রাদার বলল," বাহ তুমি তো বেশ ভালো কথাই বলেছো। ভালো লাগলে উপভোগ করবে, না লাগলে বাইরে থেকে হাঁটাহাঁটি করে আসবে ।তোমার মতই রুমমেট আমার দরকার।"

একথা শুনে সিস্টার ময়না বলল," তাহলে তো হলোই। তোমাদের মধ্যে মিটমাট হয়ে গেছে। আশা করি ভবিষ্যতে তোমাদের মধ্যে কোন ঝামেলা হবে না।"

আমি বললাম,"মূলত আমি ঝামেলা থেকে দূরে থাকতেই পছন্দ করি। সর্বদা চেষ্টা করি মানুষের সঙ্গে ঝামেলা এড়িয়ে সম্পর্ক বজায় রাখার। প্রয়োজনে মানুষের দুটো কটু কথা সহ্য করতে রাজি আছি। কিন্তু এরপরেও কোন ঝামেলায় জড়াতে রাজি নই।"

লিলু ব্রাদার বলল," আমরা বাউলরাও এ রকম মানুষ। আমরা সবসময় চেষ্টা করি দল-মত-নির্বিশেষে এবং সকল ধর্মের মানুষের সঙ্গে সুসম্পর্ক বজায় রাখার। তাই আমাদের গানের কথাগুলো হয়ে যায় সকলের জন্য প্রযোজ্য।"

কথাপ্রসঙ্গে আমি বললাম," আপনি কি ফকির লালন শাহর অনুসারী?"

আমার কথা শুনে লিলু ব্রাদার রুমের ভিতরে প্রবেশ করে নিজের বিছানায় বসতে বসতে বলল," আমি মূলত আধ্যাত্মিকতার অনুসারী। বিশেষ করে মরমীবাদের। তবে নির্দিষ্টভাবে আমি কারো অনুসারী নই। যদিও ফকির লালন শাহ বাউল মতাদর্শের অন্যতম প্রবক্তা। কিন্তু এই মতাদর্শকে পরবর্তীতে অনেকেই নিজের মতো করে চর্চা করেছেন। যেমন :- ফকির লালন শাহর ভাবধারায় রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর অনেকগুলো আধ্যাত্মিক কবিতা ও গান রচনা করেছেন। কিন্তু সেগুলোকে একেবারে বাউল সংগীত বলা চলে না। এগুলো রবীন্দ্রসঙ্গীতই। আবার দেওয়ান হাসন রাজা অনেকগুলি কবিতা ও গান রচনা করেছেন। যেগুলো মরমীবাদের হলেও পুরোপুরি বাউল গান না।বরং দেওয়ান হাসন রাজার নিজস্ব স্টাইলের গান। তেমনি রাধারমন বিশ্বাস নিজের মতো করে গান রচনা করেছেন। যেগুলো বাউল গানের মতো হলেও বাউল গান না।আবার পুরোপুরি বৈষ্ণবদের গানও বলা যায় না। বরং সেগুলো রাধারমনের নিজস্ব স্টাইলের গান। তেমনি শাহ আব্দুল করিমকে বাউল সম্রাট বলা হয়। তিনি অনেকগুলো গান রচনা করেছেন। কিন্তু সেগুলো ফকির লালন শাহর অনুকরণে রচিত না। বরং বাউল সম্রাট শাহ আব্দুল করিমের নিজস্ব স্টাইলের গান। তেমনি আমি লিলু মজুমদার নিজস্ব স্টাইলে গান রচনা করি এবং বাদ্য যন্ত্রের মাধ্যমে সেগুলো চর্চা করি। আমি বাদ্যযন্ত্র চালানো শিখেছি আমার শ্রদ্ধেয় গুরু ওস্তাদ বালাউদ্দিন খান এর কাছ থেকে।"

লিলু ব্রাদারের একথা শুনে আমি বললাম," আমি শুনেছি ওস্তাদ আলাউদ্দিন খান এর নাম। যিনি পণ্ডিত রবিশংকরের ওস্তাদ ও শ্বশুর। কিন্তু ওস্তাদ বালাউদ্দিন খান নামের কোন সঙ্গীতজ্ঞের নাম তো আমি শুনিনি।"

আমার এই কথা শুনে লিলু ব্রাদার ভ্রু কুঁচকে আমার দিকে তাকিয়ে বলল," তুমি কতজন সঙ্গীতজ্ঞের নাম শুনেছো? তুমি কি নিশ্চিতভাবে বলতে পারবে সকল সঙ্গীতজ্ঞের নাম?"

আমি বললাম," এটা কোনভাবেই সম্ভব না। প্রথমত আমি সঙ্গীত চর্চা করি না। দ্বিতীয়ত সকল সঙ্গীতজ্ঞের নাম ও পরিচয় জানার আমার প্রয়োজন নাই। তাই আমি সকল সঙ্গীতজ্ঞের নাম বলতে পারব না।"

আমারে কথা শুনে লিলু ব্রাদার জিজ্ঞেস করল," তাহলে ওস্তাদ বালাউদ্দিন খান এর নাম তুমি কী করে জানবে? ওস্তাদ বালাউদ্দিন খান একজন নিভৃতচারী সঙ্গীতজ্ঞ ছিলেন। তিনি কোন বাউল গানের আসরেও বসতেন না, আবার মানুষের কাছে গিয়ে গানও গাইতেন না ।বরং নিরিবিলিতে অবস্থান করে সঙ্গীত চর্চা করতেন। আমিও তো ওস্তাদ বালাউদ্দিন খান এর নাম শুনিনি। কিন্তু ঘটনাচক্রে ওস্তাদ বালাউদ্দিন খানের সঙ্গে আমার পরিচয় হয়েছিল। তিনির কাছ থেকে আমি বাদ্যযন্ত্রের তালিম নিয়েছিলাম। এবং বিভিন্ন ধরনের রাগ রাগিনী তৈরি করা শিখেছিলাম।"

আমি বললাম," আপনার ব্যাপারে শুনেছি, আপনি কবিতা লিখেন এবং সেই কবিতাগুলোতে সুরারোপ করে গানের পরিণত করেন ‌কিন্তু এখন আপনার কাছ থেকে শুনছি আপনি রাগ রাগিনী ও তৈরি করেন। কোনটা তাহলে ঠিক?"

আমার এই কথা শুনে লিলু ব্রাদার বলল," দুটোই ঠিক। কিন্তু এই বাড়ির সকলেই জানে, আমি কবিতা লিখি ও গান রচনা করি। কিন্তু ওরা তো আর রাগ রাগিনী বোঝেনা। রাগ রাগিনী বুঝতে হলে সংগীতের সমঝদার উপভোগকারী হতে হয়। তা না হলে কারোর পক্ষে সঙ্গীতের রাগ রাগিনী উপলব্ধি করা সম্ভব না। এ পর্যন্ত যত রাগ রাগিনী আবিষ্কৃত হয়েছে সেগুলো কতজনে উপলব্ধি করতে পারে? সকলেই সেটা উপলব্ধি করতে পারে না।কেউ গান উপলব্ধি করতে পারে, আবার কেউ শুধু গান শুনেই যায়। কিছুই বোঝেনা। কিন্তু রাগ রাগিনী বুঝতে হলে গান ও কবিতার চেয়ে আরো বেশি মনোযোগী হতে হয়। তা না হলে রাগ রাগিনী উপলব্ধি করা কারো পক্ষে সম্ভব না। যদি রাগ রাগিনী বোঝেনা এমন ব্যক্তিকে রাগ রাগিনী শোনানো যায়, তাহলে সেই ব্যক্তি রাগ রাগিনীকে সাধারণ বাজনা হিসেবেই মনে করবে। এর বেশি কিছু উপলব্ধি করতে পারবে না। এমনকি অর্থহীন আওয়াজ হিসেবেও বিবেচনা করে বিরক্ত হতে পারে। তাই আমি আমার আবিষ্কৃত রাগ রাগিণীর ব্যাপারে এই বাড়ির কারোর সঙ্গে আলোচনা করি না। কেননা ওদের সঙ্গে আলোচনা করলে ওরা রাগ রাগিনীর কিছুই বুঝবে না। তাই অযথাই ওদের সঙ্গে রাগ রাগিণীর আলোচনা করে আমি আমার সময় ও শ্রম এর অপচয় করতে চাই না। তবে তুমি যদি আমার আবিষ্কৃত রাগ রাগিনী উপলব্ধি করতে চাও, তাহলে আমি যখন রাগ রাগিনীগুলো চর্চা করবো, তখন তুমি আমার কাছে বসে সেগুলো মনোযোগ দিয়ে শুনবে। তাহলে তুমি রাগ রাগিনী কিছুটা হলেও বুঝতে পারবে। তোমাকে দেখে আমার মনে হচ্ছে, তুমি একজন বুদ্ধিমান ছেলে। তাই তুমি অতি সহজেই আমার আবিষ্কৃত রাগ রাগিনীগুলো উপলব্ধি করতে পারবে। আমি এই বাড়ির কেউকে পাইনি যে, আমার নির্মিত রাগ রাগিনী উপলব্ধি করতে পেরেছে। যা-ই হোক, তুমি যদি আমার রাগ রাগিনী উপলব্ধি করতে পার,তাহলে অন্তত একজন হলেও যথাযথ শ্রোতা আমি পাবো।"

লিলু ব্রাদারকে আমি জিজ্ঞেস করলাম," আপনি ওস্তাদ বালাউদ্দিন খানের সঙ্গে কীভাবে সাক্ষাৎ করেছিলেন?"

 লিলু ব্রাদার বলল," একবার আমি গিয়েছিলাম কুষ্টিয়ার সেউরিয়ায় ফকির লালন শাহর মাজারে। সেই মাজারের পাশে একটা মেলা বসেছিল। মেলাতে দেখলাম একজন বৃদ্ধ লোক দোতারা বাজাচ্ছেন। মুখে কোন গান না গাইলেও দোতারা ঠিকই বাজাচ্ছেন। আমি ওই বৃদ্ধ লোকের কাছে গিয়ে কিছুক্ষণ বসে রইলাম। তখন দেখলাম ওই বৃদ্ধ লোক একটানা দোতারা বাজাচ্ছেন তো বাজাচ্ছেনই। অনেকক্ষণ পর আমি বললাম,' আপনি এতক্ষণ যাবত দোতারা বাজানো অথচ মুখে কোন গান গাচ্ছেন না কেন?'

 "তখন ওই বৃদ্ধলোক দোতারা বাজানো বন্ধ করে বললেন,' আমি দোতারায় রাগ বাজাচ্ছি।'

 আমি বললাম ,'আপনি কি গান করেন না।'

 তখন ওই বৃদ্ধলোক বললেন ,'আমি গান গাইনা। কিন্তু বাদ্যযন্ত্রে রাগরাগিণীর চর্চা করি।'

 আমি বললাম,'আপনার বাড়ি কোথায়? আপনি কীভাবে রাগ রাগিণী বাজানো শিখলেন? আপনি কীভাবে ফকির লালন শাহর মাজারে এলেন?'

 তখন ওই বৃদ্ধলোক বললেন,' আমার নাম বালাউদ্দিন খান। আমার বাড়ি ঠাকুরগাঁও জেলার বালিয়াডাঙ্গীতে। আমি যখন ছোট ছিলাম তখন ভারত থেকে একজন লোক আসতেন আমাদের গ্রামে। ওই লোকের কাছ থেকে আমি রাগ রাগিণীর চর্চা শিখেছিলাম। তখন থেকেই আমি বাদ্যযন্ত্রে রাগ রাগিনী চর্চা করি। আমি ভালো গান গাইতে পারি। কিন্তু মানুষের কাছে গিয়ে গান-বাজনা করি না। এমনকি কোন অনুষ্ঠানে গিয়েও আমি গান-বাজনা করি না। আমি শুধু বাদ্যযন্ত্রে রাগরাগিণীর চর্চা করি। এখন আমার এই বৃদ্ধ বয়সে আমি আমার একজন যথাযথ শিষ্যের সন্ধান করছি।'

 আমি বললাম,' আপনি একজন সঙ্গীতজ্ঞ আপনি কেন একজন যথাযথ শিষ্যের সন্ধান করছেন?'

 তখন ওই বৃদ্ধলোক অর্থাৎ ওস্তাদ বালাউদ্দিন খান বললেন,' আমার জীবনে যতগুলো সঙ্গীতচর্চা করেছি সেগুলো যদি আমি কোন ব্যক্তিকে শিখিয়ে না দিতে পারি, তাহলে আমারে সঙ্গীতচর্চা বৃথা হবে। তাই আমার সঙ্গীতচর্চাকে দুনিয়াতে টিকিয়ে রাখতে হলে যথাযথ শিষ্যের দরকার।'

 ওই বৃদ্ধের অর্থাৎ ওস্তাদ বালাউদ্দিন খানের কথা শুনে আমি চিন্তা করলাম, আমি তো ব্যক্তিগতভাবে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হতে পারলাম না। যখন আমার এসএসসি পরীক্ষার সময় হয়েছিল তখন আমি পরীক্ষা না দিয়ে বাড়ি থেকে পালিয়ে গিয়েছিলাম। এসেছিলাম পরীক্ষা শেষ হওয়ার দুই মাস পর। এরপর লোকজনের জমিতে কাজ করেছি, ইটভাটায় ইট বানিয়েছি। এমনকি মাঝে মাঝে রিকশা চালিয়ে সংসার এর খরচ বহন করেছি। আর এখন এসেছি ফকির লালন শাহর মাজারে। তাই আমার জীবনে বড় কিছু করার সুযোগ নাই। এবং আমার নিজেরও বড় কিছু করার ইচ্ছা নাই। তাই আমি যদি ওস্তাদ বালাউদ্দিন খানের কাছ থেকে শিক্ষা নিতে পারি, তাহলে হয়তো আমি নিজে একজন বড় সঙ্গীতজ্ঞ হতে পারব। আর একজন বড় সঙ্গীতজ্ঞ হওয়ার সুবাদে বিভিন্ন স্থানে অনুষ্ঠিত সংগীতানুষ্ঠানে অংশগ্রহণ করে টাকাও রোজগার করতে পারব আর সুনামও অর্জন করতে পারব। তাই আমি ওস্তাদ বালাউদ্দিন খানকে বললাম,'আমাকে কি আপনার শিষ্য হিসেবে গ্রহণ করবেন?'

  আমার এ কথা শুনে ওস্তাদ বালাউদ্দিন খান বললেন,' আমি তোমাকে জোর করব না আমার শিষ্য হওয়ার জন্য। তবে আমি এটুকু বলতে পারব, তুমি যদি আমার শিষ্য হতে পার, তাহলে তুমি একজন ভালো সঙ্গীতজ্ঞ করতে পারবে। এবং পরবর্তীতে একজন বড় সঙ্গীতজ্ঞ হিসেবে নিজেকে প্রতিষ্ঠিত করতে পারবে। তখন দেখবে দূর-দূরান্ত থেকে তোমার কাছে অনেকেই আসবে বড় বড় গানের আসরে রাগ রাগিনী বাজানোর জন্য তোমাকে নিমন্ত্রণ করতে। তখন তুমি সেই সকল গানের আসরে গিয়ে রাগ রাগিনী উপস্থাপন করে নিজেকে প্রকাশ করতে পারবে।'

 তখন আমি ওস্তাদ বালাউদ্দিন খানের পা ছুঁয়ে সালাম করে বললাম,' ওস্তাদ, আমি আপনার কাছ থেকে রাগ রাগিনী শিখতে চাই। আমাকে আপনার শিষ্য হিসেবে গ্ৰহণ করুন।'

 আমার এ কথা শুনে ওস্তাদ বালাউদ্দিন খান বললেন,' তোমাকে আমার শিষ্য হিসেবে গ্রহণ করতে কোন বাধা নাই। এবং আমার কোন নিজেরও কোনো আপত্তি নাই। কিন্তু আমার কাছ থেকে সঙ্গীতের তালিম গ্রহণ করার দায়িত্ব তোমার। আমি ওস্তাদ হিসেবে যতটুকু শিক্ষা দেওয়ার, আমি তোমাকে শিখাব।কিন্তু সেই শিক্ষা তোমার মধ্যে গ্রহণ করার দায়িত্ব তোমার।যত কষ্টই আসুক, সেই শিক্ষাটা তোমার মধ্যে রাখতে হবে। আমি রাজা জমিদার নযি যে তোমাকে খাইয়ে আমার সঙ্গীতচর্চা তোমাকে দান করব। এটা আমার পক্ষে সম্ভব না। এটা হয়তো দেওয়ান হাসন রাজার পক্ষে সম্ভব ছিল। কেননা তিনি ছিলেন জমিদার। তিনি নিজের শিষ্যদেরকে বাড়িতে বসিয়ে বসিয়ে খাইয়ে সংগীতের তালিম দিতে পারতেন। কিন্তু আমার তেমন কোনো সহায়-সম্পত্তি নাই। আমি নিজেই মানুষের কাছ থেকে চেয়ে খাই। ছেলে মেয়ে যারা আছে ওরা সকলেই নিজের সংসার নিয়ে ব্যস্ত আছে। তাই গান-বাজনা করে আমাকে খাইতে হয়। তবে যেহেতু আমি রাগ রাগিণীর চর্চা করি, তাই আমার রাগ রাগিনী সকলেই বুঝতে পারে না। কিছু ধনী ব্যক্তি আমার রাগ রাগিনী শুনে সন্তুষ্ট হয়। ওরা আমাকে যে টাকা দেয়, সে টাকা দিয়ে আমি আমার খরচ মেটাই। তুমি কি পারবে আমার সঙ্গে এভাবে কষ্ট করে থেকে আমার কাছ থেকে সঙ্গীতের তালিম নিতে?'

 আমি বললাম,' ওস্তাদ আমিও রাজা জমিদারের ছেলে না ।কষ্ট করে আমি বড় হয়েছি। কষ্ট কী রকম সেটা আমি জানি ।তাই আপনার কাছ থেকে সঙ্গীতের তালিম নেওয়ার জন্য যদি কষ্ট করতে হয়, তাহলে আমি সেই কষ্ট সহ্য করতে রাজি আছি। এমনকি আপনি রাগ রাগিনী শুনিয়ে যে টাকা কামাই করেন ,সেই টাকা থেকে আমার জন্য খরচ না করলেও হবে। কেননা আমি আমার খরচ বহন করেই আপনার কাছ থেকে সঙ্গীতে তালিম গ্রহণ করব।'

 আমার এ কথা শুনে ওস্তাদ বালাউদ্দিন খান অত্যন্ত খুশি হয়ে বললেন,' তোমার মতো শিষ্য পেলে আমি নিজেকে ধন্য মনে করব। আজ থেকেই আমি তোমাকে আমার শিষ্য হিসেবে গ্রহণ করলাম।'

 আমি মনে মনে চিন্তা করলাম, মানুষের জীবনে ছোটখাটো কিছু ঘটনা ঘটে যেগুলো সংশ্লিষ্ট ব্যক্তির জীবনে বড় ধরনের পরিবর্তন বয়ে আনে। আমি এসেছিলাম ফকির লালন শাহর মাজারে উদ্দেশ্যহীনভাবে। কিন্তু এসে ওস্তাদ বালাউদ্দিন খানের কাছ থেকে সঙ্গীতের তালিম নেওয়ার সুযোগ পেলাম।

 আমি তখনই ওস্তাদ আলাউদ্দিন খানের সামনে বসে পড়লাম। ওস্তাদ আলাউদ্দিন খান আমার হাতে দোতারাটা তুলে দিয়ে বললেন,' তুমি দোতারা বাজানো শুরু কর। সেই হলো শুরু। আমি দোতারার তারে টোকা মেরে বাজানো শুরু করলাম। পরদিন ওস্তাদ বালাউদ্দিন খানের সঙ্গে চলে গেলাম ঠাকুরগাঁও শহরে। সেই স্থানে একটা ভাড়া করা ছাপড়া ঘরে আমি আর ওস্তাদ বালাউদ্দিন খান থাকি আর সঙ্গীত চর্চা করি। সকালবেলা ওস্তাদ বালাউদ্দিন খান চলে যান বিভিন্ন ব্যক্তিকে রাগ রাগিনী শুনানোর জন্য। আর আমি চলে যাই রিকশা চালানোর জন্য। সন্ধ্যাবেলা ঘরে ফিরে এসে দুজনে মিলে সঙ্গীত চর্চা করি। এভাবেই ওস্তাদ বালাউদ্দিন খানের কাছ থেকে আমি রাগ রাগিণীর শিক্ষা অর্জন করেছিলাম। একদিন ওস্তাদ বালাউদ্দিন খান আমাকে বললেন,' বাবা লিলু, তোমাকে যা শেখানোর আমি তোমাকে শিখিয়েছি। এবার তুমি নিজে কোথাও গিয়ে সঙ্গীত চর্চা করো।' তিনির কথা মতো আমি চলে এলাম গাজীপুরে। গাজীপুরের চন্দ্রায় একটা গারমেন্টস এ কিছুদিন কাজ করার পর চলে এলাম ভালুকার এই স্থানে। বর্তমানে এই স্থানে আমি চাকরি করছি আর সঙ্গীত চর্চা করছি। এভাবেই আমি ওস্তাদ বালাউদ্দিন খানের কাছ থেকে সঙ্গীতের তালিম নিয়ে একজন সঙ্গীতজ্ঞ হয়েছি। তবে আমি এখনো আমার কোন শিষ্যের সন্ধান করি নি। কেননা এই শিল্প এলাকায় সংগীতের শিষ্য পাওয়া দূরের কথা সঙ্গীত উপভোগ করার মতো ঠিক মতো মানুষ পাওয়া যায় না। তাই আমি আমার শিষ্যের সন্ধান না করে নিজে নিজেই সঙ্গীত চর্চা করছি।"

আমার সঙ্গে লিলু ব্রাদার আলোচনা করার পর সে একটা বেহালা নিয়ে বলল," আমি এবার রাগ রাগিনী বাজাবো।"

একথা বলে লিলু ব্রাদার রাগ রাগিনী বাজানো শুরু করল।

কিছুক্ষণ বাজিয়ে লিলু ব্রাদার বলল," আমি এখন যে রাগটা বাজালাম এটার নাম রাগ আলু ভর্তা।"

একথা বলে লিলু ব্রাদার আবার বেহালা বাজাতে শুরু করল। কিছুক্ষণ বাজিয়ে আবার আমাকে বলল," এই রাগটার নাম রাগ ডাল ভাত।"

আমি হতবাক হয়ে বললাম," এরকম রাগ রাগিণীর নাম তো আমি কখনো শুনিনি। আমি শুনেছি রাগ ইমন রাগ, ভৈরব প্রভৃতি।"

তখন লিলু ব্রাদার আমাকে মৃদু ধমক দিয়ে বলল," হ্যাঁ ,রাগ ইমন, রাগ ভৈরব আছে। কিন্তু রাগ আলু ভর্তা, ডাল ভাত যে হবে না এটার কি কোন আইন আছে ? এই রাগ রাগিনীগুলো আমি নিজে আবিষ্কার করেছি। আমি আমার মত বাজিয়ে এগুলোর এক একটা নাম দিয়েছি। যেহেতু আমি এগুলোর উদ্ভাবক সেহেতু আমি যে নাম দিয়েছি সেগুলি ঠিক। এর মধ্যে কোন তর্ক চলে না। যিনিরা অতীতে রাগ রাগিনী আবিষ্কার করেছেন তিনিরা নিজেদের মতো করে বাজিয়ে সেগুলোর নামকরণ করেছেন। আমিও তো তাই করেছি ।এটা নিয়ে কেন তর্ক হবে?"

এরপর লিলু ব্রাদার একের পর এক বাজনা বাজাতে লাগল। এবং একেকটা বাজনার নাম বলতে লাগল। রাগ দুধ ভাত, রাগ সাগর কলা, রাগ দুধ কলা ,রাগ আম পাতা, রাগ জামপাতা, রাগ মিষ্টি লাউ, রাগ পাতি লাউ, রাগ গার্মেন্টস, রাগ শার্ট ,রাগ প্যান্ট, রাগ ইলিশ,রাগ পাঙ্গাস, রাগ রাজহাঁস প্রভৃতি নাম বলতে লাগলো।

এই ধরণের অদ্ভুত রাগ রাগিনীর নাম শুনে তখন হতবাক হওয়া ছাড়া আমার করার কিছুই ছিল না।

প্রায় দু'ঘণ্টা বাজানোর পর লিলু ব্রাদার থামল। এরপর বেশ কিছুক্ষণ চোখ বন্ধ করে বসে রইল। আমি শুধু চুপচাপ বসে বসে লিলু ব্রাদারকে দেখছিলাম।

চোখ খুলে লিলু ব্রাদার বলল," তুমি যে একজন যোগ্য শিষ্য হওয়ার উপযুক্ত সেটা তুমি এখন প্রমাণ করলে। ধৈর্য্য ধরে অনেকক্ষণ তুমি আমার রাগ রাগিনী শুনেছো। এটা একজন যোগ্য শিষ্য হওয়ার লক্ষণ। এরকম ধৈর্য্য সকলের মধ্যে থাকে না। কিন্তু তোমার মধ্যে এই ধৈর্য্য আছে। তাই তুমি যথাযথ শিষ্য হওয়ার উপযুক্ত।"

আমি তো লিলু ব্রাদার এর কাছ থেকে রাগ রাগিনী শিখতে চাই না। বাংলাদেশ আমার উদ্দেশ্য হচ্ছে আসামের উগ্ৰবাদীদেরকে গ্ৰেফতার করা। কিন্তু পরিস্থিতির কারণে লিলু ব্রাদার এর রুমমেট হিসেবে থাকতে হচ্ছে। আর যেহেতু লিলু ব্রাদার একজন সঙ্গীতজ্ঞ, তাই বাধ্য হয়েই ওর সঙ্গীত চর্চা আমাকে উপভোগ করতে হচ্ছে । তবে এটাকে উপভোগ না বলে দুর্ভোগ বলাটাই অনেক ভালো। কেননা এ রকম সঙ্গীত চর্চা আমার জীবনে দেখা তো দূরের কথা কখনো শুনিনি।" 

তাই লিলু ব্রাদারকে আমি বললাম," আপনি নিজের মতো করে বাজনা বাজালেন আর একেকটা বাজনার নাম দিয়ে দিলেন। এতেই কি রাগ রাগিনী তৈরি হয়ে গেল?"

আমার এই কথা শুনে লিলু ব্রাদার অনেকটা রাগান্বিত হয়ে বলল," এ পর্যন্ত যারা রাগ রাগিনী তৈরি করেছে ওরা তো নিজেদের খেয়ালখুশি মতো বাজনা বাজিয়ে একেকটার একেক নাম দিয়ে দিয়েছে। আমি তো আগেই বললাম, রাগ রাগিনী তৈরি করার কোন আইনগত বিধি নিষেধ আছে কি না? যদি না থাকে তাহলে অন্যদের খেয়াল খুশিতে তৈরি করা বাজনাকে রাগ রাগিণীর নাম দেওয়া গেলে আমার গুলোকে কেন নাম দেওয়া যাবে না?"

লিলু ব্রাদারের এই কথাগুলো আমার কাছে গোঁয়ার্তুমর মতো মনে হলো। বিষয়টা নিজের খেয়াল-খুশিকে শক্তি প্রয়োগের মাধ্যমে প্রতিষ্ঠিত করার মতো হয়ে গেল। তাই লিলু ব্রাদার এর সঙ্গে আমি কথা কাটাকাটি করে শত্রুতা তৈরি করতে চাই না।

অতএব মনে মনে লিলু ব্রাদার এর এই গোঁয়ার্তুমি মেনে না নিলেও মুখে মুখে চুপ করে রইলাম। সে যদি নিজের এই গোঁয়ার্তুমিকে প্রতিষ্ঠিত করতে পারে, তাহলে অযথাই তর্ক করার কোন দরকার নাই।

এমন সময় দরজার সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে সিস্টার ময়না বললো।," কী ব্যাপার? প্রথম দিনেই তোমরা ঝগড়া শুরু করে দিয়েছো?"

আমি বললাম," মোটেই না। আমরা তো ঝগড়া করিনি।"

আমার কথা শুনে সিস্টার ময়না বলল," আমি এইমাত্র শুনলাম তোমরা রাগ রাগিনী, ওস্তাদ আলাউদ্দিন, ওস্তাদ বালাউদ্দিন,রাগ দুধ কলা প্রভৃতি নিয়ে তর্কাতর্কি করছো। এরকম হলে তোমরা কি এক রুমে দুইজন থাকতে পারবে?"

সিস্টার ময়নার এ কথা শুনে লিলু ব্রাদার বলল," এই ময়না, তুমি চার লাইন বেশি বুঝ। আমরা গুরু শিষ্য সঙ্গীত নিয়ে আলোচনা করছি। আর তুমি এটাকে ঝগড়া বলছো কেন? তুমি তো দেখছি আমাদের দুজনের মধ্যে ঝগড়া লাগানোর ব্যবস্থা করছো।"

লিলু ব্রাদার এর একথা শুনে সিস্টার ময়না প্রতিবাদের সুরে বলল," আমি আমার ভাইকে তোমার রুমে থাকার জন্য এনে দিলাম। আমার ভাইকে নিয়ে এই বাড়ির কয়েকজন বাজে কথা বলেছে, আমি তাদের প্রতিবাদ করলা।ম আর এখন তুমি বলছো আমার ভাইয়ের সঙ্গে তোমার ঝগড়া লাগানোর ব্যবস্থা করছি। আমি শুধু এসে জিজ্ঞেস করলাম তাতেই তুমি বলছো আমি তোমাদের মধ্যে ঝগড়া লাগানোর ব্যবস্থা করছি। এটা কিন্তু তোমার উচিৎ হচ্ছে না।"

সিস্টার ময়নার কথা শুনে লিলু ব্রাদার হাসতে হাসতে বলল ,"তুমি কি মনে কর আমি সত্যি সত্যি তোমাকে এটা বলেছি? মূলত তোমাকে আমার ভালো লাগে বলে মাঝে মাঝে ছোটখাটো খোঁচা দিয়ে তোমাকে কথা বলি।"

লিলু ব্রাদার এর একথা শুনে সিস্টার ময়না চোখ বড় বড় করে বলল," কোথায় কোন কথা বলতে হয়, সে ব্যাপারে তোমার কোন সচেতনতা নাই। আমার ছোট ভাইয়ের সামনে তুমি এরকম কথা আর বলো না।"

একথা বলে সিস্টার ময়না নিজের রুমে চলে গেল।

সন্ধ্যার ঠিক আগে আগে লিলু ব্রাদার বলল," চলো এবার মুড়ি খাই।" এ কথা বলে খাটের তলা থেকে লিলু ব্রাদার মুড়ির একটা কৌটা বের করল। আর এক মুঠো পেঁয়াজ - কাঁচামরিচ ও সরিষার তেলের একটা বোতল বের করল।

ছোট একটা কাঠের টুকরোর উপর পেঁয়াজ ও কাঁচামরিচ রেখে একটা ছোট চাকু দিয়ে সেগুলো কুঁচি কুঁচি করে কাটতে লাগল। কুঁচি কুঁচি করে কেটে শেষ করে একটা ছোট গামলাতে সেগুলো নিয়ে লবণ ও সরিষার তেল দিয়ে ভালো করে কচলে নিল। এরপর কৌটা থেকে গামলাতে মুড়ি ঢেলে ভালো করে পেঁয়াজ, কাঁচামরিচ, লবণ ও সরিষার তেলের সঙ্গে মাখাল।

গামলাটা আমার সামনে রেখে লিলু ব্রাদার বলল," খাও।" একথা বল লিলু ব্রাদার নিজেও খাইতে লাগল।

মুড়ি খাওয়া শেষ করে লিলু ব্রাদার বিশ্রাম নিল। আমিও বিশ্রাম নিলাম। এমন সময় সুমনা এসে বলল," কেমন চলছে তোমাদের দিনকাল? ময়নার কাছে শুনলাম তোমরা নাকি গুরু-শিষ্যের সম্পর্ক স্থাপন করেছো? তা কোন ব্যাপার নিয়ে তোমাদের মধ্যে মতভেদ হয়েছে?"

আমি বললাম, "লিলু ব্রাদার নতুন কিছু রাগ রাগিনী আবিষ্কার করেছেন। আমি তো সঙ্গীত ততো বেশি বুঝিনা। অল্পস্বল্প বুঝি। তাই আমি আমার ক্ষুদ্র জ্ঞান অনুসারে লিলু ব্রাদারের রাগ রাগিনী তেমন বুঝতে পারিনি। তাই লিলু ব্রাদার নতুন রাগরাগিণীর ব্যাপারে আমাকে কিছু জ্ঞান দিয়েছেন। আর এটা করতে গিয়ে আমাদের মধ্যে কিছু আলোচনা হয়েছে। তবে কোন ধরনের ঝগড়া হয়নি।"

আমার কথা শুনে সুমনা বলল," এটা কোন বিষয় না। বড়দের সঙ্গে ছোটদের একটু মতভেদ হতেই পারে। তবে সেটা বড় ধরনের সমস্যা মনে না করলেই হয়। আমরাও তো যখন গার্মেন্টসে চাকরি করি তখন দেখি সুপারভাইজার এর সঙ্গে অফিসার এর মতভেদ হয়। আবার অফিসার এর সঙ্গে এজিএম ও ডিজিএম এর মতভেদ হয়। আবার অনেক সময় কোম্পানির এমডি এবং ডিরেক্টার এর মধ্যেও মতভেদ হয়। তাই তোমাদের গুরু-শিষ্যের মধ্যে ঘটে যাওয়া মতভেদের বিষয়টা কখনো ঝগড়া হতে পারে না। আচ্ছা এবার তোমরা কথা বল। আমি রাতের খাবার তৈরি করতে যাচ্ছি।" একথা বলে সুমনা রান্নাঘরের দিকে চলে গেল। এরপর রাত দশটায় রাতের খাবার খেয়ে আমরা ঘুমিয়ে পড়লাম।

পরদিন ভোর সাড়ে পাঁচটায় সকলেই ঘুম থেকে জাগতে শুরু করল।

কেননা সকাল আটটায় সকলকে গার্মেন্টসে গিয়ে কাজে যোগদান করতে হবে। তাই লিলু ব্রাদার আমাকেও ডেকে জাগালো। আমিও ঘুম থেকে জাগ্রত হলাম।

মূলত সিক্রেট সার্ভিস কাজ করার কারণে আমি যখন তখন ঘুম থেকে জাগ্রত হওয়ার অভ্যস্ত হয়ে গিয়েছিলাম। তাই ভোর পাঁচটায় ঘুম থেকে জাগ্রত হতে আমার কোন সমস্যা হলো না। আমি ঘুম থেকে জাগ্রত হয়ে টুথপেস্ট ও ব্রাশ দিয়ে আমার দাঁত পরিষ্কার করলাম। অতঃপর ভালো করে হাত মুখ ধুয়ে ফ্রেশ হয়ে বিছানায় বসলাম। আমাকে হতবাক করে দিয়ে লিলু ব্রাদার নিজের বিছানায় বসে সঙ্গীত চর্চা শুরু করল। আমি জিজ্ঞেস করলাম,"আপনি তো ডিউটিতে যাবেন, তাহলে এখন কেন সংগীতচর্চায় বসলেন?"

লিলু ব্রাদার আমার দিকে তাকিয়ে বলল,"এটা হচ্ছে সকাল বেলার রেওয়াজ। সকালবেলা ঘুম থেকে উঠার পর মানুষের মন সবচেয়ে শান্ত থাকে। তাই এই সময়টা সংগীতের রেওয়াজ করার জন্য উত্তম পরিবেশ।"

আমি বুঝলাম লিলু ব্রাদার নিজের মনের ধারণাকে উত্তম মনে করে সেটাই করে। তাই তাকে বোঝাতে চাওয়া মানে নিজেকে অযথাই কাজে জড়ানো সমান কথা। 

কিছুক্ষণ পর সুমনা এসে বলল," তুমি এই রুমেই বসো। আমি তোমার জন্য খাবার নিয়ে আসছি।"

আমাকে সুমনা তুমি করে বলা শুরু করে দিয়েছে। তবে আমি এ ব্যাপারে কোন দ্বিধা বোধ করছিনা। সুমনা আমার বেশি ছোট হবেনা। কিন্তু সে গার্মেন্টসে চাকরি করার কারণে বাস্তব জীবন সম্পর্কে বেশ ভালোই অভিজ্ঞতা অর্জন করেছে। সুমনের কথামতো আমি আমার বিছানায় বসে রইলাম। ওদিকে লিলু ব্রাদার নিজের মতো করে সঙ্গীতের রেওয়াজ করতে লাগল।

কিছুক্ষণ পর সুমনা সকালে রান্না করা গরম ভাত নিয়ে এলো। আর কালকের তরকারি গরম করে নিয়ে এলো।

ওদিকে লিলু ব্রাদারের জন্য সিস্টার ময়না খাবার নিয়ে এলো।

দুজনে খাবার খাওয়া শুরু করলাম। খাবার শেষ করতে করতে প্রায় সাড়ে সাতটা বেজে গেল।

এরপর সুমনা এসে বলল,"ভাইয়া, চলো যাই গার্মেন্টসে তোমাকে চাকরির জন্য লাইনে দাঁড়াতে হবে।" 

এবার সুমনাকে আমার আসল কথা বলতে হবে। কেননা শেরপুরের লোকটার দেয়া ঠিকানা মতো আমাকে চাকরি নিতে হবে। এখন যদি আমি সুমনার কথামতো অন্য গার্মেন্টসে চাকরি নিই। তাহলে হয়তো উগ্রবাদীদের সঙ্গে আমার কোন সাক্ষাৎ হবে না। এবং আমি তাদেরকে গ্রেফতারও করতে পারব না।

তাই আমি সুমনাকে বললাম,"সুমনা, আজকে আমি চাকরিতে যোগদান করব না। বরং ঘুরে ঘুরে গার্মেন্টসগুলো দেখব। প্রথমে তোমার গার্মেন্টস দেখব। এরপর দেখি কোথায় চাকরিতে যোগদান করতে পারি।"

আমার কথা শুনে সুমনা আমতা আমতা করে বলল,"ভাইয়া,আমি মনে করেছিলাম তোমাকে আমার সঙ্গে নিয়ে আমাদের গার্মেন্টসে অর্থাৎ আমি যে গার্মেন্টসে চাকরি করি সেই গার্মেন্টসে তোমার একটা চাকরির ব্যবস্থা করে দেব। আর তুমি বলছো ঘুরে ঘুরে গার্মেন্টস দেখার এবং কোথায় যোগদান করবে সেটা পরে দেখবে।"

আমি তখন মুচকি মুচকি হেসে বললাম,"মূলত শেরপুর থেকে আমার এক বন্ধু একটা গার্মেন্টসের নাম বলে দিয়েছে এবং মোবাইলে সেই গার্মেন্টসের একজন ডিজিএমকে আমার ব্যাপারে চাকরি দেওয়ার কথা বলে দিয়েছ।"

একথা শুনে সুমনা একটু বিষণ্ণ চেহারায় বললো,"ভাইয়া তুমি কি পারোনা আমার সঙ্গে চাকরি করতে? আমাকে কি তোমার ভালো লাগে না?"

আমি মনে মনে ভাবলাম, সুমনা খারাপ লাগার মতো মেয়ে না। বেশ ভালো লাগার মতো মেয়ে। কিন্তু আমি যদি বাংলাদেশের নাগরিক হতাম এবং কোন ব্যক্তিদেরকে গ্রেফতার করার আমার উদ্দেশ্য না থাকত, তাহলে সুমনার সঙ্গে আমি অনায়াসেই চাকরি করতাম। কিন্তু এরকম পরিস্থিতিতে শুধুমাত্র ভাইবোনের সম্পর্কের কারণে অথবা অন্য রকম ভালো লাগার কারণে সুমনার সঙ্গে চাকরি করে সময়ের অপচয় করার কোন কারণ থাকতে পারে না। তাই সুমনাকে আমি বললাম,"তুমি এটা নিয়ে টেনশন করো না।আমি যদি অন্য গার্মেন্টসে চাকরি করি তাহলেও সব সময় আমি তোমার খোঁজ খবর নেব।"

সুমনা বলল,"যদি অন্য গার্মেন্টসে তোমার চাকরি হয়, তাহলে কি তুমি এই বাড়িতে থাকতে পারবে।"

আমি বললাম,"কেন থাকতে পারবো না?"

সুমনা বলল,"আমরা যারা এ বাড়িতে ভাড়া থাকি সকলেই একই গার্মেন্টসের বিভিন্ন প্রজেক্টে চাকরি করি। আর অন্য গার্মেন্টস এই স্থান থেকে প্রায় কয়েক কিলোমিটার দূরে। তাই অন্য গার্মেন্টসে যারা চাকরি করে ওরা ওই গার্মেন্টসের পাশে বিভিন্ন বাড়িতে ভাড়া থাকে। আচ্ছা এখন ডিউটিতে যাওয়ার সময় হয়েছে। তাই এখন আমরা ডিউটিতে যাচ্ছি পরে বিকালবেলা এসে অনেক কথা হবে।

একথা বলে সুমনা ডিউটিতে যোগদানের জন্য রওনা হলো। আমি দেখলাম অন্যরাও নিজেদের মতো ডিউটিতে যোগদানের জন্য যাওয়া শুরু করল।

আমিও সুমনার সঙ্গে ওদের গার্মেন্টসে যেতে লাগলাম।

যেতে যেতে দেখলাম অনেকগুলো ভাড়া বাড়ি থেকে ছেলেমেয়েরা বের হয়ে নিজেদের কর্মস্থলে যাচ্ছে। হাঁটতে হাঁটতে প্রায় দেড় কিলোমিটার যাওয়ার পর একটা গার্মেন্টসের সামনে এগিয়ে দাঁড়ালাম।

গার্মেন্টসের নাম দেখে চেনা চেনা মনে হচ্ছে। তাই আমার সঙ্গে আনা ছোট ডায়েরিটা বের করলাম। ডায়েরি বের করে আমাকে দেয়া শেরপুরে সেই লোকটার বলা গার্মেন্টসের ঠিকানাটা দেখলাম। দেখে আমি একেবারে চমকে গেলাম। এই গার্মেন্টসের কথাই তো আমাকে বলা হয়েছিল।

মূলত আমি যে গার্মেন্টসের খুঁজে ভালুকায় এসেছি, সেই গার্মেন্টসেই সুমনা চাকরি করে। বিষয়টা কাকতালীয় হয়ে গেল।

আমি তো তখন সেটা ভাবতে ভাবতে মুচকি মুচকি হাসতে লাগলাম। আমার মুচকি হাসি দেখে সুমনা জিজ্ঞেস করল,"কী ব্যাপার, তুমি এভাবে হাসছো কেন?"

আমি বললাম,"একটা কাকতালীয় ঘটনা ঘটে গেল।"

সুমনা তখন ভ্রু কুঁচকে আমার দিকে তাকিয়ে বলল,"কী কাকতালীয় ঘটনা ঘটল? আর সেই কাকতালীয় ঘটনার জন্য তোমাকে এভাবে হাসতে হচ্ছে মুচকি মুচকি।"

আমি বললাম,"কী ঘটনা ঘটেছে জানো? আমাকে যে গার্মেন্টসের ঠিকানা বলা হয়েছিল, এটাই সেই গার্মেন্টস। এতক্ষণ আমি সেটা জানতাম না। তোমার সঙ্গে এখানে এসে জানতে পারলাম।"

আমার এ কথা শুনে সুমনা বেশ খুশি হলো। খুশি হয়ে বলল,"তাহলে তো ভালোই হলো। তোমাকে অন্য গার্মেন্টসে যেতে হবে না। আমার সঙ্গে থেকেই তুমি কাজ করতে পারবে।"

আমি বললাম,"চাকরিতে যোগদানের জন্য নাগরিক সনদ ও জন্ম নিবন্ধন সনদের প্রয়োজন। আমি সেগুলো লিলু ব্রাদারের রুমে রেখে এসেছি। আমাকে যদি চাকরিতে যোগদান করতে হয় তাহলে আগামীকাল যোগদান করতে হবে।"

আমার কথা শুনে সুমনা বলল,"সেটা কোন সমস্যা না। আজ তুমি ঘুরে ঘুরে গার্মেন্টসের এরিয়াটা দেখ, কালকে আমার সঙ্গে আসার সময় লিলু ব্রাদারের রুম থেকে তোমার কাগজপত্র নিয়ে আসবে। তুমি কোন বিভাগে চাকরি করতে চাও, সেটা গেটে অবস্থানরত সুপারভাইজারকে বললে তিনি তোমাকে সেই বিভাগে নিয়ে যাবেন।"

সুমনা একথা বলে গার্মেন্টসে অবস্থানরত সিকিউরিটিদেরকে নিজের কার্ড দেখিয়ে গার্মেন্টসের ভিতর প্রবেশ করল।

আমি তখন গার্মেন্টসের গেটের বাইরে দাঁড়িয়ে দাঁড়িয়ে দেখতে লাগলাম সুমনার মতো আরো অনেক গার্মেন্টসকর্মী ছেলেমেয়েরা গার্মেন্টসের ভিতরে প্রবেশ করছে।

আমি আরো কিছুক্ষণ দাঁড়ানোর পর দেখলাম, সকল কর্মীরা গার্মেন্টসের ভিতর প্রবেশ করার জন্য ভিড়ের মধ্যে প্রায় ধাক্কাধাক্কি করছে।সকল গার্মেন্টসকর্মী বিশাল গেট পেরিয়ে গার্মেন্টস এর মধ্যে প্রবেশ করতে লাগল।

আমাকে এভাবে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকতে দেখে গেটে দাঁড়ানো একজন সিকিউরিটি এসে আমাকে বলল,"কী ব্যাপার, আপনি কি ভিতরে প্রবেশ করবেন না?"

আমি বললাম,"না।"

তখন সিকিউরিটি লোকটা বলল,"কেন প্রবেশ করবেন না?"

 আমি বললাম,"আমি এখনো চাকরি নিই নি।"

তখন সেই লোকটা বলল,"তাহলে কাগজপত্র কালকে নিয়ে আসেন, আমি আপনার চাকরির ব্যবস্থা করে দিতে পারব।"

একথা শুনে আমি বেশিক্ষণ না দাঁড়িয়ে থেকে সেই গার্মেন্টসের পাশে অবস্থিত একটা হোটেলে গিয়ে বসলাম। আমাকে হোটেলে বসতে দেখে হোটেলের একটা ছেলে এসে আমাকে বলল,"স্যার কী খাবেন?"

আমি বললাম,"বেশি কিছু খাব না। তুমি আমাকে এক কাপ চা দাও।"

আমার জন্য ছেলেটা চা আনতে চলে গেল। আর আমি ভাবতে লাগলাম, ছেলেটা আমাকে স্যার বলে সম্বোধন করল। আমার মনে হলো ছেলেটা কি জেনে গিয়েছে যে, আমি ভারতের একজন সিবিআই অফিসার? তা না হলে সে কেন আমাকে স্যার বলে সম্বোধন করল?

চা নিয়ে আসার পর ছেলেটাকে আমি জিজ্ঞেস করলাম,"আমাকে তুমি স্যার বললে কেন?"

ছেলেটা বলল,"আপনারা আমাদের কাস্টমার। আপনাদের সেবা করাই আমাদের ব্যবসা। ভালো খাবার পরিবেশনের পাশাপাশি ভালো ব্যবহার যদি না করি, তাহলে কোন কাস্টমারই সন্তুষ্ট হবে না। তাই আমাদের হোটেলে যিনিরা আসেন, সকলকেই আমরা অত্যন্ত শ্রদ্ধা করি। কেউকে স্যার ডাকি,কেউকে বস ডাকি আবার কেউকে বড় ভাই ডাকি। মূলত কাস্টমারকে সন্তুষ্ট করার জন্যই আমাদের এটা একটা পলিসি মাত্র।"

আমি বললাম,"তোমাদের পলিসি তো খুবই চমৎকার। যদি তোমাদের মতো সকল হোটেল ব্যবসায়ীরা এরকম হতো, তাহলে হোটেলগুলো আরো বেশি বিক্রি করতে পারতো।"

আমার এ কথা শুনে ছেলেটা যেন আরো উৎসাহিত হলো। সে বলল,"স্যার চিংড়ি মাছ দিয়ে মিষ্টি কুমড়া পাক করা হয়েছে। এক প্লেট খেয়ে দেখুন, কখনো এর টেস্ট ভুলতে পারবেন না। আর সঙ্গে এক প্লেট ভাত দেব। বেশি টাকা লাগবে না, মাত্র 40 টাকা দিলেই হবে। আর আমাদের এই স্পেশাল চায়ের দাম মাত্র 10 টাকা। সর্বমোট 50 টাকা দিলেই হবে।"

ছেলেটার কথা শোনে আমি চিন্তা করলাম, কত ভাবেই তো অতিরিক্ত টাকা খরচ করা হয়। আর এখন ছেলেটা যে তোষামোদ করল, সেটার মূল্যই তো 100 টাকার চেয়ে বেশি।

তাই আমি চা খাইতে খাইতে মুচকি হেসে বললাম,"আচ্ছা তাহলে এক প্লেট ভাত দাও আর এক প্লেট চিংড়ি মাছ দিয়ে রান্না করা মিষ্টি কুমড়ার তরকারি দাও।"

আমার কথা শুনে ছেলেটা গেল চিংড়ি মাছ দিয়ে রান্না করা মিষ্টি কুমড়ার তরকারি আর এক প্লেট ভাত আমার জন্য।

কয়েক মিনিট পর ছেলেটা ডান হাতে এক প্লেট ভাত, বাম হাতে এক প্লেট চিংড়ি মাছ দিয়ে রান্না করা মিষ্টি কুমড়ার তরকারি, একটা ছোট প্লেটে অল্প সালাদ আর একটা টুকরো লেবু নিয়ে এসে আমার সামনে টেবিলের উপরে রাখল।"

আমি প্রথমে অল্প একটু মিষ্টি কুমড়া আর দুটো চিংড়ি মাছ নিয়ে অল্প কিছু ভাত মাখিয়ে মুখে দিলাম। চিবুতে চিবুতে বুঝলাম তরকারিটা বেশ ভালোই হয়েছে। আর ভাতগুলো নরম হয়েছে। কিন্তু বেশ ঝরঝরে হয়েছে। অনেকেই আছেন ভাত নরম করে রান্না করলে একটা ভাতের সঙ্গে আরেকটা ভাত লেপ্টে থাকে। আবার অনেকে আছেন ভাত ঝরঝরে করে রান্না করলে ঠিক মতো সিদ্ধ হয় না। কিন্তু এই ভাতগুলো একেবারে সুসিদ্ধ এবং ঝরঝরে হয়েছে।

যখন অর্ধেক প্লেট ভাত খাওয়া শেষ করলাম তখন ছেলেটা এসে অমায়িক হেসে আস্তে আস্তে বলল,"স্যার আরেক প্লেট ভাত দেই। সঙ্গে বোনাস হিসাবে আরেকটু তরকারি দেব এবং সারপ্রাইজ হিসেবে তরকারির মধ্যে মাংসের ঝোল দিয়ে দেব।"

ছেলেটার কথা শুনে আমি না হেসে পারলাম না। ছেলেটা বলে কী, এক প্লেট ভাতের সঙ্গে তরকারি বোনাস দেবে।আর সঙ্গে আরও সারপ্রাইস হিসৈবে মাংসের ঝোল দেবে। যে তোষামোদ করেছে,তাতে পেটে ক্ষুধা না থাকা সত্ত্বেও আমি বললাম,"আচ্ছা দাও।"

আমার কথা শুনে ছেলেটা আরো বেশি উৎসাহী হয়ে তরকারি ও ভাত আনতে গেল। আমাকে তরকারি ও ভাত দিয়ে ছেলেটা একটু অন্য দিকে গেল। এমন সময় পাশের টেবিলে বসা দুজন লোক বলাবলি করতে লাগল,"এই ছেলেটা কোত্থেকে এসেছে? ডিউটি টাইমে এখানে এসে চিংড়ি মাছ দিয়ে ভাত খাচ্ছে। সে এতো টাকা পেল কোথায়? সে বেতন পায় কত?যে বাড়িতে থাকে সেই বাড়িতে ভাড়া দেয় কত? বাজার সদাই করে খায় কত টাকা দিয়ে? এখন আবার হোটেলে খাচ্ছে। সে কি অবৈধ টাকা ইনকাম করে?"

আমি এসব কথাবার্তা শুনে রীতিমতো হতবাক হলাম। বলে কী ওরা? চিংড়ি মাছ দিয়ে রান্না করা মিষ্টি কুমড়ার তরকারি খাচ্ছি, এটা নিয়ে এতো কথা। না জানি ইলিশ মাছের ফ্রাই দিয়ে পোলাও খাইলে কী রকম আলোচনা করত?

ততক্ষণে হোটেলের ছেলেটা আমার কাছে এসে দাঁড়াল। আমাকে হতবাক হতে দেখে হোটেলের ছেলেটা বলল,"স্যার, আপনি ওদের কথা শুনে দুশ্চিন্তা করবেন না। ওরা হচ্ছে ওই গার্মেন্টসের মালিকের নিজস্ব লোক। ওদের কাজই হচ্ছে গার্মেন্টসের অফিসার, সুপারভাইজার আর কর্মীদের ওপর নজরদারি করা।"

আমি বললাম,"গার্মেন্টসের মালিক ওদেরকে কি এই কাজের জন্য নিয়োগ করে রেখেছে?"

ছেলেটা বলল,"হ্যাঁ,গার্মেন্টসের মালিক ওদেরকে এই কাজে নিয়োগ করে রেখেছে।"

আমি বললাম,"এতে গার্মেন্টসের মালিকের কী লাভ?"

ছেলেটা বলল,"যদি কারোর মধ্যে কোন দুর্নীতি থাকে, তাহলে এদের সাহায্যে গার্মেন্টসের মালিক ওই দুর্নীতিগ্রস্তকে পাকড়াও করে। এবং দুর্নীতির মাধ্যমে অর্জিত টাকা ও অন্যান্য দ্রব্য হস্তগত করে নেয়। এটা করে শুধু নিজের গার্মেন্টসে কর্মরত অফিসার, সুপারভাইজার ও কর্মীদের সঙ্গে।"

আমি বললাম,"এর মানে তুমি বলতে চাচ্ছ, গার্মেন্টসের মালিক নিজের প্রতিষ্ঠান থেকে যারা দুর্নীতি করে টাকা ও অন্যান্য দ্রব্য সরিয়ে নেয় তাদের কাছ থেকে সেগুলো আবার ফেরত নিয়ে নেয়।"

ছেলেটা বলল,"হ্যাঁ এটাই করে।"

আমি বললাম,"তাহলে এটা ইন্ডাস্ট্রিয়াল পুলিশও তো করতে পারে।"

ছেলেটা বলল,"হ্যাঁ, ইন্ডাস্ট্রিয়াল পুলিশও এটা করতে পারে। কিন্তু ইন্ডাস্ট্রিয়াল পুলিশ এটা করলে ওরা যে উদ্ধার করা সকল টাকা ও দ্রব্য মালিককে ফিরিয়ে দেবে এটার কোন নিশ্চয়তা নাই। মনে করুন,একজনের কাছ থেকে 10 লাখ টাকা উদ্ধার করা হলো। এখন যদি ইন্ডাস্ট্রিয়াল পুলিশ এই 10 লাখ টাকা থেকে পাঁচ লাখ টাকা সরিয়ে নেয়, তাহলে কি মালিক বলতে পারবে যে, ইন্ডাস্ট্রিয়াল পুলিশ 5 লাখ টাকা মেরে দিয়েছে অর্থাৎ আত্মসাৎ করে নিয়েছে?"

আমি বললাম,"না, মালিক এটা বলতে পারবে না।"

আমারে কথা শুনে ছেলেটা বলল,"এই কারণেই মালিক নিজস্ব লোক নিয়োগ করে রেখেছে যাতে নিজের টাকা ও দ্রব্য আবার নিজেই ফিরিয়ে নিতে পারে।"

আমি বললাম,"তুমি তো হোটেলে কাজ করো, তো তুমি এতো কিছু জানো কী করে?"

ছেলেটা বলল,"আমার মামা ওই গার্মেন্টসের একজন এডমিন।এই গার্মেন্টসে অনেকগুলো এডমিন আছে। ওদের মধ্যে আমার মামাও একজন। আমি আমার মামার কাছ থেকেই এগুলো জেনেছি।"

আমি বললাম,"তুমি এতো ছোট মানুষ, তাহলে তোমার মামা তোমাকে এগুলো কেন বলল?"

ছেলেটা বলল,"তথ্য পাবার জন্য। কেননা এই হোটেলে কাজ করতে করতে আমিও যদি কোন দুর্নীতিবাজের সন্ধান পাই সেটা যাতে মামাকে জানাতে পারি।"

আমি বললাম,"তোমার মামা ওই গার্মেন্টসের একজন এডমিন।তাহলে তুমি কেন এই হোটেলে কাজ কর।চাইলে তুমিও তো গার্মেন্টসে চাকরি নিতে পার।"

আমার কথা শুনে ছেলেটা বলল,"ওই গার্মেন্টসে চাকরি করে আমি যে টাকা পাব, এর চেয়ে বেশি টাকা আমি এই হোটেলে কাজ করে ইনকাম করি। সেই সঙ্গে মামার সহযোগী হয়ে কাজ করার কারণে কিছু অতিরিক্ত টাকা আমি পাই। তাই আমার মামা ওই গার্মেন্টসের এডমিন হওয়া সত্ত্বেও আমি হোটেলে কাজ করি।"

আমি বুঝলাম ছেলেটা তোষামোদ করায় যেমন দক্ষ তেমনি ইনফর্মার হিসাবেও দক্ষ হতে চলেছে।

তাই আমি কথা আর না বাড়িয়ে খাওয়া-দাওয়া শেষ করে টাকা প্রদান করে হোটেল থেকে বের হয়ে এলাম।

এরপর পার্শ্ববর্তী আরো কয়েকটা গার্মেন্টস ঘোরাঘুরি করে দেখলাম।

অবশেষে সুমনাদের ভাড়া বাড়িতে চলে এলাম। ভাড়া বাড়িতে চলে এসে লিলু ব্রাদারের রুম থেকে আমার নাগরিক সনদপত্র ও জন্ম নিবন্ধন পত্র নিয়ে একটা ফটোস্ট্যাটের দোকানে গিয়ে ফটোস্ট্যাট করে নিলাম।

এরপর আবার লিলু ভাইয়ের রুমে এসে আরামসে শুয়ে পরলাম।

🌟 এভাবেই ওদের সঙ্গে থেকে থেকে আমার কয়েকদিন কেটে গেল।

ঐ গার্মেন্টসে কাজ করে ত্রিশ হাজারের চেয়েও বেশি লোক। আমার কাজ হচ্ছে তৈরি পোশাক প্যাকিং করা।

তৈরি পোশাক প্যাকিং করি আর খুঁজতে থাকি আসামের উগ্রবাদীদেরকে।

এভাবে চলে গেলো এক বছর। আমিও প্রমোশন পেয়ে হলাম , মেশিন অপারেটর। আরও ছয় মাস পরে হলাম , কিউসি (কোয়ালিটি কন্ট্রোলার)।

একদিন বাজার থেকে সদাই করে মেস বাড়িতে ফিরছিলাম , এমন সময় দেখি পথের মধ্যে আসামিজ ভাষায় একটা কবিতা লেখা কাগজ। কাজটা হাতে নিয়ে পাশের ঘরটায় উঁকি দিয়ে দেখি , আমি যে গার্মেন্টসে চাকরি করি , সেই গার্মেন্টসের চতুর্থ তলার কাটিং মাস্টার সুরেশ বর্মন আর দ্বিতীয় তলার স্বপন ধর আসামিজ ভাষায় কথা বলছে। 

আর যায় কোথায় , আমিও গেট দিয়ে ওদের ঘরের ভিতরে ঢুকে বললাম , " কী ব্যাপার ? আপনারা বাংলাদেশি হয়ে আসামিজ ভাষায় কথা বলছেন কেন ? " এই কথা শুনে স্বপন বললো , " বেয়াদব , তোর কতো বড় সাহস ? তুই কিউসি হয়ে সুপারভাইজারের কাছে কৈফিয়ত চাস্ ? " আমিও তখন মেশিন পিস্তল বের করে বললাম , " আদবি অথবা বেয়াদবি পরে বুঝা হবে। আগে তোদের আসল পরিচয় দে। "

আমার এই কথা শুনে ওরা নিজেদের নকল পরিচয় দিলো আর আমিও পিস্তলের বাঁট দিয়ে ওদের দুটোর মাথায় মারলাম দুই গাট্টা।

সুরেশ তখন "ও মাগো , মাগো " বলে চিৎকার দিলো। আমি তখন ওর মুখের সামনে পিস্তল ঠেকিয়ে বললাম , " চুপ কর্। তা না হলে গুলি করবো। " ওরা ওদের আসল পরিচয় দিলো। তখন আমিও আমার আসল পরিচয় দিলাম।

এরপরে ওরা দুজন হাউ মাউ করে কেঁদে বললো , " স্যার , আমাদেরকে ক্ষমা করে দেন। " আমি বললাম , " তোমাদের বস কোথায় ? " তখন ওরা বললো , " আমাদের দুই বস শুনেছিলাম গাজীপুরের একটা গার্মেন্টসে চাকরি করে। অনেক দিন যাবৎ ওদের সঙ্গে আমাদের যোগাযোগ নাই। "

আমি বললাম , " সর্বশেষ কোন গার্মেন্টসে ওরা ছিলো ? " তখন আমাকে ওরা ওদের বসেরা যে গার্মেন্টসে চাকরি করতো , সেটার ঠিকানা দিলো। আমিও তখন ওদেরকে পুলিশে ধরিয়ে দিয়ে চলে এলাম গাজীপুরের ঐ গার্মেন্টসে। 

ছয় মাস চাকরি করার পরে , একজনকে ধরতে পারলাম। ওর কাছ থেকে জানলাম , ওর বস থাকে শাহজালাল রাহ. বিমান বন্দর এলাকাতে। তাকেও পুলিশে ধরিয়ে চলে এলাম , বিমান বন্দর এলাকাতে (চলবে 🌈Google/ https://is.gd/PCqlh )।
