“Being a guarantor of a nomination is very difficult _ it realized that after becoming a guarantor.”
Guarantor.
The leaders and activists present at the central office of the party are under tension.
An excitement in everyone's mind, who will get the nomination? Will someone from the old leaders be nominated, or will a new leader be nominated in politics?
Everyone is excited about this.
Finally, the wait is over, a new leader named Radhashyam has been nominated from Badamtala seat.
But Radhashyam will need a guarantor_one who will atone for Radhashyam's actions.
Hearing this, Muktar Hossain almost jumped up and said, “I will be the surety of Radhashyam.”
So, Radhashyam was handed over to guarantor Muktar Hossain.
Thereafter, Muktar Hossain came to Badamtala with Radhashyam and other activists.
Why guarantor?
While eating at night, Muktar Hussain's wife asked, “Why are you the guarantor of Radhashyam?”
Muktar Hossain said, “I became a guarantor because there is a serious issue. Although Radhashyam will become MP after passing the election, but I will be the real power. If Radhashyam does not act as I say after becoming MP, then I will give a report to the central office. Radhashyam will have a big problem. Must go on.”
Hearing this, the wife giggled happily and gave another thigh of roasted local chicken to Muktar Hossain's plate.
After the election.
Finally, came the election. But Radhashyam was miserably defeated in the elections.
That night, the party leader phoned the secretary and asked, “Whom have you nominated for Badamtala?”
The secretary said, “Radhashyam has been nominated.”
_ Why did you nominate Radhashyam?
_ I did not give nomination.Radhashyam got nomination.
The party leader got up and said, “You are the secretary of the party. You have to apologize for Radhashyam's defeat. Otherwise, I will expel you from the party.”
Saying this, the team leader hung up the phone.
But the secretary said in his mind, “Before I am expelled from the party, Muktar Hossain, the guarantor of Radhashyam, must be hooked. In a word, Muktar Hossain must be made a scapegoat.”
Why failed?
That's when the secretary called Muktar Hossain and said, “Hey man, you have become Radhashyam's guarantor. Why did Radhashyam lose in the election?”

Hearing this, Muktar Hossain's wife got up and said, “Oh, don't go to the central office. If you go, they will beat you, break your hands and feet, and throw you off the roof of a multi-storied building. You better go abroad.”
Muktar Hossain easily believed his wife's strange words.
The next day, Muktar Hossain arranged to go abroad.
Meanwhile, some others started calling and threatening.
A few days went by and the threats continued.
One day suddenly Muktar Hossain went abroad.
The next day the secretary called and Muktar Hossain's wife answered.
As soon as the phone was received, the secretary said, “Mr. Muktar, why are you still not coming to the central office?”
Muktar Hossain's wife said, “He is not at home.”
_ Where is he now?
_ He has gone abroad.
Hearing this, the secretary hung up the phone.
Leader's order.
When the party leader called, the secretary said, “Sir, Muktar Hossain has fled abroad.”
On hearing this, the leader of the party said, “You nominate some people_they fail. And some make them guarantors _ they run away with little threats. From now on, nominate such people _ who can win the election. And make such people guarantors _ who will not run away, even with hundreds or thousands of threats.”
The secretary obediently said, “Yes, leader, that will be it.”

“মনোনয়নের জামিনদার হওয়া অনেক কঠিন_সেটা বুঝা গেলো জামিনদার হওয়ার পর।”
জামিনদার।
দলের কেন্দ্রীয় কার্যালয়ে উপস্থিত নেতাকর্মীরা চাপা উত্তেজনার মধ্যে আছেন।
সকলের মনেই একটা উত্তেজনা,কে পাবেন মনোনয়ন? পুরাতন নেতাদের মধ্য থেকে কেউ মনোনয়ন পাবেন_নাকি রাজনীতিতে নতুন কোন মুখ মনোনয়ন পাবেন?
এটা নিয়েই মনে মনে সকলেই উত্তেজিত হয়ে আছেন।
অবশেষে অপেক্ষার পালা শেষ হলো,বাদামতলা আসন থেকে এবার মনোনয়ন পেয়েছেন রাধাশ্যাম নামক এক নতুন নেতা।
কিন্তু রাধাশ্যামের একজন জামিনদার লাগবে_যিনি রাধাশ্যামের কর্মকাণ্ডের কৈফিয়ত প্রদান করবেন।
এটা শোনে মুক্তার হোসেন প্রায় লাফিয়ে উঠে বললেন,“আমি হব রাধাশ্যামের জামিনদার।”
তাই রাধাশ্যামকে জামিনদার মুক্তার হোসেনের হাতে সঁপে দেয়া হলো।
এরপর রাধাশ্যাম আর অন্যান্য নেতাকর্মীদেরকে নিয়ে মুক্তার হোসেন চলে এলেন নিজেদের এলাকা বাদামতলায়।
কেন জামিনদার হলে?
রাতের বেলা খাওয়ার সময় মুক্তার হোসেনের বউ জিজ্ঞেস করলেন,“তুমি কেন রাধাশ্যামের জামিনদার হলে?”
মুক্তার হোসেন বললেন,“বিরাট ব্যাপার আছে বলেই আমি জামিনদার হয়েছি। নির্বাচনে পাশ করার পর রাধাশ্যাম যদিও এমপি হবে_কিন্তু প্রকৃত ক্ষমতাবান হব আমি।এমপি হওয়ার পর রাধাশ্যাম যদি আমার কথা মতো না চলে_তাহলে কেন্দ্রীয় কার্যালয়ে রিপোর্ট দিয়ে দেব।তাতে রাধাশ্যামের বিরাট সমস্যা হবে।তাই রাধাশ্যামকে আমার কথা মতো চলতেই হবে।”
একথা শোনে বউ খুশিতে গদগদ করে মুক্তার হোসেনের প্লেটে রোস্ট করা দেশি মোরগের আরেকটা রান দিয়ে দিলো।
নির্বাচনের পর।
অবশেষে এলো নির্বাচন। কিন্তু নির্বাচনে রাধাশ্যাম শোচনীয়ভাবে পরাজিত হলেন।
সে রাতেই সেক্রেটারিকে দলপ্রধান ফোন করে জিজ্ঞেস করলেন,“বাদামতলায় কাকে মনোনয়ন দিয়েছো?”
সেক্রেটারি বললেন,“রাধাশ্যাম মনোনয়ন পেয়েছে।”
_ তুমি কেন রাধাশ্যামকে মনোনয়ন দিয়েছো?
_ আমি তো মনোনয়ন দিইনি।রাধাশ্যাম মনোনয়ন পেয়েছে।
দলপ্রধান ধমকে উঠে বললেন,“তুমি দলের সেক্রেটারি।রাধাশ্যামের পরাজয়ের কৈফিয়ত তোমাকেই দিতে হবে।তা না হলে আমি তোমাকে দল থেকে বের করে দেব।”
একথা বলে দলপ্রধান ফোন রেখে দিলেন।
কিন্তু সেক্রেটারি মনে মনে বললেন,“আমাকে দল থেকে বের করে দেয়ার আগেই রাধাশ্যামের জামিনদার মুক্তার হোসেনকে ফাঁসাতে হবে।এক কথায়,মুক্তার হোসেনকে বলির পাঁঠা বানাতে হবে।”
কেন ফেল করল?
তখনই মুক্তার হোসেনকে সেক্রেটারি ফোন করে ধমকাতে ধমকাতে বললেন,“এই মিয়া, রাধাশ্যামের জামিনদার হয়েছেন আপনি।তো নির্বাচনে রাধাশ্যাম পরাজিত হলো কেন?”
মুক্তার হোসেন আমতা আমতা করে বললেন,“আমরা তো রাধাশ্যামকে বিজয়ী করার জন্য অনেক চেষ্টা করেছি।”
সেক্রেটারি আরো জোরে ধমক দিয়ে বললেন,“চেষ্টার কথা জিজ্ঞেস করিনি_পরাজিত হলো কেন, সেটা জিজ্ঞেস করেছি।”
মুক্তার হোসেন ঢোক গিলে বললেন,“আচ্ছা,কেন আমাদের প্রার্থী পরাজিত হলো, সেটা তদন্ত করে সাংবাদিক সম্মেলনের মাধ্যমে আপনাদেরকে আমরা জানাব।”
সেক্রেটারি বললেন,“সাংবাদিক সম্মেলন করতে হবে না।আপনি কাল এসে বলে যান।”
_ কোথায় এসে বলব?
_ এখানে।
_ এখানে কোথায়?
_ দলীয় কার্যালয়ে।
এটা বলেই সেক্রেটারি ফোন রেখে দিলেন।
জামিনদার পালালেন।
মুক্তার হোসেনের বউ বললেন,“কী গো,কী হলো?”
মুক্তার হোসেন বললেন,“নির্বাচনে রাধাশ্যাম কেন ফেল করল_সেটা কেন্দ্রীয় কার্যালয়ে রিপোর্ট দেয়ার জন্য দলের সেক্রেটারি ফোন করেছিলেন।”
একথা শোনে মুক্তার হোসেনের বউ আঁতকে উঠে বললেন,“ও গো,তুমি কেন্দ্রীয় কার্যালয়ে যেও না গো।এবার গেলে ওরা তোমাকে পিটিয়ে হাত_পা ভেঙে বহুতল ভবনের ছাদ থেকে ফেলে দেবে। এরচেয়ে তুমি বিদেশে চলে যাও।”
বউয়ের এ উদ্ভট কথা মুক্তার হোসেন সহজেই বিশ্বাস করে ফেললেন।
পরদিনই মুক্তার হোসেন বিদেশ যাওয়ার ব্যবস্থা করলেন।
এরই মধ্যে আরো কয়েকজন ফোন করে হুমকি_ধমকি দিতে লাগলেন।
এভাবে কয়েকদিন গেলো_আর হুমকি ধমকি চলতেই লাগলো।
একদিন হঠাৎ করে মুক্তার হোসেন বিদেশে চলে গেলেন।
পরদিন সেক্রেটারি ফোন করলেন আর রিসিভ করলেন মুক্তার হোসেনের বউ।
ফোন রিসিভ হতেই সেক্রেটারি বললেন,“মুক্তার সাহেব,আপনি এখনো কেন্দ্রীয় কার্যালয়ে আসছেন না কেন?”
মুক্তার হোসেনের বউ বললেন,“তিনি তো বাড়ি নাই।”
_ তিনি এখন কোথায় আছে?
_ তিনি বিদেশে চলে গিয়েছেন।
একথা শোনে সেক্রেটারি ফোন রেখে দিলেন।
দলপ্রধানের নির্দেশ।
দলপ্রধান ফোন করলে সেক্রেটারি বললেন,“স্যার,মুক্তার হোসেন বিদেশে পালিয়েছে।”
একথা শোনে দলপ্রধান বললেন,“কোনদেরকে (কোন ব্যক্তিদেরকে) মনোনয়ন দাও_ফেল করে।আবার কোনদেরকে জামিনদার বানাও_অল্প হুমকিতেই পালিয়ে যায়।এরপর থেকে এমন লোকদেরকে মনোনয়ন দেবে_যারা নির্বাচনে বিজয়ী হতে পারবে।এবং এমন লোকদেরকে জামিনদার বানাবে_যারা শত হাজার হুমকি ধমকিতেও পালাবে না।”
সেক্রেটারি আজ্ঞাবহের মতো বললেন,“জ্বি নেতা,এটাই হবে।”
