I said, "You said no need to say Gandhiji. But you said Gandhiji."
Badr Ali said, "You are saying Gandhiji Gandhiji, so I also said."
- Why?
- First of all, he is the people of India. Secondly, he was active for independence of India. So what do people of Bangladesh need to say Gandhiji?
I realized that Badr Ali refuses to honor Gandhiji. It's nothing but his persecution. Although Gandhiji did not get the Nobel Prize in peace. But Nobel Lauriators also honor Gandhiji in peace. So if nonindian does not respect Gendiji, nationality will remain unstoppable.
Badr Ali said, "No need to say Gandhi as Bapuji . Is Gandhi father of all?"
I said, "Spiritual leaders of different religions in the Indian subcontinent are called father. Do they also get all the fathers? But Gandhi is called father, Bapuji etc. due to the political leadership of India. And Gandhi is also called the Father of India. Therefore, there is no question of telling Gandhi father for the citizens of Bangladesh.
- Well, you disagree to say Gandhi as father or Bapuji for the citizens of Bangladesh. But do you believe in Bangabandhu as the father of the nation?
Badr Ali said very fluently, "Of course."
I said, "You are preparing armed for the establishment of Islamic state. But many Islamic people in Bangladesh, even the general political party leaders also disagree to Bangabandhu as the father of the nation ."
- But we believe in Bangabandhu as a father of the nation due to historical reasons. The people led by Bangabandhu to fight freedom. There is no way to deny this historical truth. By accepting this historic truth, we believe in Bangabandhu as the father of the nation. Even after we occupy power, the people have contributed to the freedom and development of Bangladesh, we will give proper status to them. Although we do not redeem for the Nobel Prize in peace. But we will capture power and form the liberal government for all. Even those who remove from power, we will give them proper respect.
- Where did you get the idea of this generosity?
- Ibrahim Lodi defeated, but his family was honored by Emperor Babur. The fourth Caliph Hazrat Ali was not accepted by the emperor Muawiya bin Sufyan, but Imam Hasan and Imam Hossain honored the right status. Originally I got the idea of generosity from these historical events. The kindness of Russian Revolution was not displayed.
- But Fidel Castro's Cuban Revolution did not have much violent incidents like a Russian Revolution.
- Fidel Castro is basically opportunistic man. He captured Cuban power by the name of communism. Again went to the USA for convenience. After that there was no prey, then returned to Cuba and opposed the USA. He mainly kept Cuban power by speaking communism.
- You can not say such a genuine friend of Bangladesh Fidel Castro. And you can not even be shooter like him. He said that, if he used to compete shooting in the Olympics, then the Gold Medal won.
- Did Fidel Castro help us in the 1971 war? Have he ever come to our country? Only in 1973, he met Bangabandhu in Algeria. And said, 'I have not seen the Himalayas, but I have seen Sheikh Mujib.' He said this because we won the war of 1971. Otherwise, he would have said, 'I have not seen the earth heaven Kashmir, but I saw Yahya Khan.' And Gold Medal is completely crushed. By capturing the power anyone can tell muffled talking. But Fidel Castro is also a gunman. Like Mao Zedong, Fidel Castro also captured power with guns. However, Mao Zedong is a big friend of Bangladesh than Fidel Castro.
- Mao Zedong was against Bangladesh in 1971. But was the big friend of Bangladesh, why you say?
- Originally due to regional and global political reasons, Mao was against Bangladesh. But later he has benefited many for Bangladesh. Even after 1971, Bangabandhu went to China and met with Mao Zedong . In continuation of this, China is cooperating Bangladesh in different ways. Similarly, in 1971, USA oppose Bangladesh. But now Bangladesh is cooperating in many ways. Basically there is no specific enemy state of Bangladesh.
- Pakistan is the enemy state of Bangladesh. And you say, there is no enemy state of Bangladesh.
- Your words are right. But Pakistan is not an enemy as before. Currently there is relations with Bangladesh's diplomatic, cultural, entertainment etc. Even in 1974, the representatives of the Pakistan government came to Bangladesh in special plane from Pakistan and took Bangabandhu to Pakistan. Then Bangladesh was a member of the OIC.
- Why Pakistan is not an enemy as before?
- Because there is not a lot of profits due to being a few thousand miles away from Bangladesh. But due to Pakistan and India as well as the neighbor country, there is an enmity between the border including Kashmir.
- USA and Soviet Union are also the two crossing of the Atlantic Ocean. So why did so many conflict between them?
- These two countries around the world were confronting their own ideology and influence. But there is no rival country for Bangladesh as debtor country. And the debtor country's should not compete or hostility with any country.
- Why are you telling Bangladesh a debtor country?
- Because Bangladesh took various benefits from other countries. Again, Bangladeshis sent remittances in in Bangladesh from different countries. In this way, Bangladesh has become a debtor country.
- But Bangladesh will be a developed state one day through their own manpower.

আমি বললাম, " আপনি বললেন, গান্ধিকে গান্ধিজি বলার দরকার নাই। অথচ আপনিই তো গান্ধিজি বললেন। "
বদর আলি বলল, " তুমি এতক্ষণ যাবৎ গান্ধিজি গান্ধিজি করছ, তাই আমিও বললাম। "
- কেন গান্ধিকে গান্ধিজি বলার দরকার নাই ?
- প্রথমত তিনি ভারতের লোক। দ্বিতীয়ত তিনি ভারতের স্বাধীনতার জন্য তৎপর ছিলেন। তাই বাংলাদেশের মানুষ হয়ে ভারতের লোককে গান্ধিজি বলার দরকার কী ?
আমি বুঝলাম, গান্ধিজিকে বদর আলি সম্মান করতে অসম্মত। এটা ওর জেদ ছাড়া কিছুই না। যদিও গান্ধিজি শান্তিতে নোবেল প্রাইজ পান নি। কিন্তু শান্তিতে নোবেল লরিযেটরাও গান্ধিজিকে অত্যন্ত সম্মান করেন। তাই ভারতীয় না হয়েও গান্ধিজিকে সম্মান করলে জাতীয়তা অক্ষুণ্ন থাকবে।
বদর আলি বলল, " গান্ধিকে গান্ধি বাবা অথবা বাপুজি বলার তো প্রশ্নই আসে না। গান্ধি কি আমাদের বাপ লাগে ? "
আমি বললাম, " ভারতীয় উপমহাদেশে বিভিন্ন ধর্মের আধ্যাত্মিক নেতাদেরকেও বাবা বলা হয়। ওরাও কি সকলের বাপ লাগে ? "
- ওদেরকে তো আধ্যাত্মিকতার কারণে বাবা বলে। কিন্তু গান্ধিকে ভারতের রাজনৈতিক নেতৃত্বের কারণে বাবা, বাপুজি প্রভৃতি বলা হয়। এবং গান্ধিকে ভারতের জাতির পিতাও বলা হয়। তাই বাংলাদেশের নাগরিক হয়ে গান্ধিকে বাবা বলার কোন প্রশ্নই আসে না।
- আচ্ছা, আপনি বাংলাদেশের নাগরিক হয়ে গান্ধিজিকে বাবা অথবা বাপু বলতে অসম্মত।কিন্তু বঙ্গবন্ধুকে আপনি জাতির পিতা হিসেবে মানেন কি ?
বদর আলি অত্যন্ত সাবলীলভাবে বলল, " অবশ্যই। "
আমি বললাম, " আপনারা ইসলামি রাষ্ট্র প্রতিষ্ঠার জন্য সশস্ত্র প্রস্তুতি নিচ্ছেন। আবার বঙ্গবন্ধুকেও জাতির পিতা মানেন। বিষয়টা আমার কাছে অদ্ভুত মনে হচ্ছে। কেননা বাংলাদেশের অনেক ইসলামি, এমনকি সাধারণ রাজনৈতিক দলের নেতারাও বঙ্গবন্ধুকে জাতির পিতা হিসেবে মানেন না। "
- রাজনৈতিক কারণে অনেকেই বঙ্গবন্ধুকে জাতির পিতা হিসেবে মানেন না। কিন্তু আমরা ঐতিহাসিক কারণে বঙ্গবন্ধুকে জাতির পিতা হিসেবে মানি। তিনির নেতৃত্বে বাংলাদেশের মানুষ যুদ্ধ করে স্বাধীনতা অর্জন করেছেন। এই ঐতিহাসিক সত্য অস্বীকার করার কোন উপায় নাই। এই ঐতিহাসিক সত্য স্বীকার করেই বঙ্গবন্ধুকে জাতির পিতা হিসেবে আমরা মানি। এমনকি আমরা ক্ষমতা দখল করার পর বাংলাদেশের স্বাধীনতা এবং উন্নয়নে যিনিরা অবদান রেখেছেন, তিনিদেরকে যথাযথ মর্যাদা প্রদান করব। যদিও শান্তিতে নোবেল প্রাইজের জন্য আমরা লালায়িত না। কিন্তু আমরা ক্ষমতা দখল করে সকলের জন্য উদার সরকার গঠন করব। এমনকি, যিনিদেরকে আমরা ক্ষমতা থেকে সরাব, তিনিদেরকেও আমরা যথাযথ সম্মান প্রদান করব।
- এই উদারতার ধারণাটা আপনি কোথা থেকে পেলেন ?
- ইব্রাহিম লোদিকে পরাজিত করে তিনির পরিবারকে সম্রাট বাবর যথাযথ মর্যাদা প্রদান করেছিলেন। চতুর্থ খলিফা হজরত আলিকে সম্রাট মুয়াবিয়া বিন সুফিয়ান না মানলেও ইমাম হাসান ও ইমাম হোসেনকে যথাযথ মর্যাদা দিয়েছিলেন। মূলত ঐতিহাসিক ওই ঘটনাগুলো থেকেই উদারতার ধারণা আমি পেয়েছি। রুশ বিপ্লবে এমন উদারতা প্রদর্শন করা হয়নি।
- তবে ফিডেল ক্যাস্ট্রোর কিউবান বিপ্লবে রুশ বিপ্লবের মতো তেমন সহিংস ঘটনা হয় নি।
- ফিডেল ক্যাস্ট্রো মূলত সুবিধাবাদী লোক। সাম্যবাদের কথা বলে কিউবার ক্ষমতা দখল করলেন। আবার সুবিধার জন্য ইউএসএতে গেলেন। সেই স্থানে কোন পাত্তা না পেয়ে আবার কিউবাতে ফিরে এলেন এবং ইউএসএর বিরোধিতা করছেন। তিনি মূলত সাম্যবাদের কথা বলে কিউবার ক্ষমতা কুক্ষিগত করে রেখেছেন।
- বাংলাদেশের অকৃত্রিম বন্ধু ফিডেল ক্যাস্ট্রোকে এমন কথা আপনি বলতে পারেন না। আর তিনির মতো আপনারা শ্যুটারও হতে পারবেন না। তিনি বলেছেন, তিনি যদি অলিম্পিকে শ্যুটিং প্রতিযোগিতা করতেন, তাহলে গোল্ড মেডেল জিততেন।
- ১৯৭১ সালের যুদ্ধে আমাদেরকে ফিডেল ক্যাস্ট্রো কি কোন সাহায্য করেছেন ? তিনি কি কখনো আমাদের দেশে এসে কোন সহযোগিতা করেছেন ? শুধু ১৯৭৩ সালে আলজেরিয়াতে বঙ্গবন্ধুর সঙ্গে সাক্ষাৎ করেছেন। আর বলেছেন, 'আমি হিমালয় দেখিনি, কিন্তু শেখ মুজিবকে দেখেছি।' তিনি এই কথাটা বলেছেন আমরা ১৯৭১ সালের যুদ্ধে জয়ী হওয়ার কারণে। তা না হলে, হয়তো তিনি বলতেন, 'আমি ভূ স্বর্গ কাশ্মির দেখিনি, কিন্তু ইয়াহিয়া খানকে দেখেছি।' আর গোল্ড মেডেলের কথাটা সম্পূর্ণ চাপাবাজি। ক্ষমতা কুক্ষিগত করে যে কোন ধরণের চাপাবাজি করা যায়। তবে ফিডেল ক্যাস্ট্রো একজন বন্দুকবাজও বটে। মাও সে তুংয়ের মতো ফিডেল ক্যাস্ট্রোও বন্দুক দিয়েই ক্ষমতা দখল করেছেন। তবে ফিডেলের চেয়ে মাও সে তুং বাংলাদেশের বড় বন্ধু।
- মাও সে তুং ১৯৭১ সালে বাংলাদেশের বিপক্ষে ছিলেন। কিন্তু তিনিকে আপনি বড় বন্ধু বলছেন কেন ?
- মূলত আঞ্চলিক ও বৈশ্বিক রাজনৈতিক কারণে ১৯৭১ সালে মাও সে তুং বাংলাদেশের বিপক্ষে ছিলেন। কিন্তু পরবর্তীতে তিনি বাংলাদেশের জন্য অনেক উপকার করেছেন। এমনকি ১৯৭১ সালের পর বঙ্গবন্ধু চীনে গিয়ে মাও সে তুংয়ের সঙ্গে সাক্ষাতও করেছিলেন। এরই ধারাবাহিকতায় আমাদেরকে চীন বিভিন্নভাবে সহযোগিতা করছে। তেমনি ১৯৭১ সালে ইউএসএ বাংলাদেশের বিরোধিতা করেছিল। কিন্তু এখন বাংলাদেশকে ইউএসএ বিভিন্নভাবে সহযোগিতা করছে। মূলত বাংলাদেশের সুনির্দিষ্ট কোন শত্রু রাষ্ট্র নাই।
- বাংলাদেশের শত্রু রাষ্ট্র হচ্ছে পাকিস্তান। আর আপনি বলছেন, বাংলাদেশের শত্রু রাষ্ট্র নাই।
- তোমার কথা ঠিক। কিন্তু পাকিস্তান আগের মতো শত্রু না। বর্তমানে পাকিস্তানের সঙ্গে বাংলাদেশের কূটনৈতিক, সাংস্কৃতিক, বিনোদন প্রভৃতির সম্পর্ক আছে। এমনকি ১৯৭৪ সালে পাক সরকারের প্রতিনিধি পাকিস্তান থেকে বিশেষ বিমানে করে বাংলাদেশে এসে বঙ্গবন্ধুকে পাকিস্তান নিয়ে গিয়েছিল। তখন বাংলাদেশ ওআইসির সদস্য হয়েছিল।
- পাকিস্তান কেন বাংলাদেশের আগের মতো শত্রু না।
- বাংলাদেশ থেকে পাকিস্তান কয়েক হাজার মাইল দূরে থাকার কারণে শত্রুতা করে তেমন লাভ না থাকার কারণে। কিন্তু পাকিস্তান ও ভারত পাশাপাশি দেশ হওয়ার কারণে তাদের মধ্যে সীমান্ত, কাশ্মিরসহ বিভিন্ন ইস্যুতে শত্রুতা লেগেই আছে।
- ইউএসএ ও সোভিয়েত ইউনিয়নও তো আটলান্টিক মহা সাগরের দুই পারের দেশ। তাহলে তাদের মধ্যে এতো দ্বন্দ্ব কেন ছিল ?
- বিশ্বজুড়ে ওই দু দেশ নিজেদের মতাদর্শ ও প্রভাব ছড়ানোর জন্যই দ্বন্দ্বে লিপ্ত ছিল। কিন্তু বাংলাদেশের মতো খাতক দেশের তেমন কোন প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বী নাই। এবং খাতক দেশের উচিত কোন দেশের সঙ্গে প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা অথবা শত্রুতা না করা।
- আপনি বাংলাদেশকে খাতক দেশ বলছেন কেন ?
- কেননা বাংলাদেশ অন্যান্য দেশ থেকে বিভিন্ন সুবিধা গ্রহণ করে। আবার বিভিন্ন দেশে বাংলাদেশিরা গিয়ে রেমিটেন্স প্রেরণ করে। এভাবেই বাংলাদেশ একটি খাতক দেশে পরিণত হয়েছে।
- কিন্তু বাংলাদেশ একদিন উন্নত রাষ্ট্রে পরিণত হবে নিজেদের জনশক্তির মাধ্যমে।
