I asked Badr Ali, "Who are you?"
Badr Ali said, "We are Mujahideen."
I: - No. You are not a mujahid.
Badr Ali: - Then we are militants?
I: - You are terrorists.
Badr Ali:- By what reason do you call us terrorists?
I: - Mujahideen are those who fought in the early days of Islam. And being militants, fighters. Jung means war, those who fight are the militants.
Badr Ali: - You have said is the original and theoretical meaning. But now militants are meant to be terrorists.
I: - At one time the word militant was used in a good sense. Such as: - Militant (Fighter) aircraft. But the word militant is now being misused in some newspapers because of the use of the word militant in the name of Islam. So people have been forced to use the word militant in a bad sense. But why do you tempt people and bring them to this place?
Badr Ali: - The people of Bangladesh are more tempted than the people of other countries. If there is an SP in the son of one poor, then I see that a few thousand more poor' son want to be SP. If the son of a rickshaw driver is DC, then I see thousands sons of other coolie-laborers also want to be DC. The sons of millionaires are also tempted to become citizens of the Middle East, Europe, America, Australia and New Zealand by cleaning toilets and earning money. Again, many people leave their assets worth crores of taka and work in their own country for a nominal salary. So we are also tempted in various ways to bring us to this place.
I: - It is not a crime for the children of the poor to be or want to be DC-SP, to be a millionaire, to go abroad and clean toilets or to be employed by a rich person for a nominal salary. It is a matter of one's own point of view.
Badr Ali: - So we also take advantage of each other's point of view and bring them to this place and involve them in jihadi work.

বদর আলিকে আমি জিজ্ঞেস করলাম, " আপনারা কারা ? "
বদর আলি বলল, " আমরা মুজাহিদ। "
আমি :- না। আপনারা মুজাহিদ না।
বদর আলি :- তাহলে কি আমরা জঙ্গি ?
আমি :- আপনারা সন্ত্রাসী।
বদর আলি :- তুমি কোন যুক্তিতে আমাদেরকে সন্ত্রাসী বলছো ?

বদর আলি :- তুমি যে কথা বলেছ, সেটা হচ্ছে উৎপত্তিগত ও তাত্ত্বিক অর্থ। কিন্তু বর্তমানে জঙ্গি বলতে সন্ত্রাসীদেরকেই বুঝানো হয়।
আমি :- একটা সময় জঙ্গি শব্দটা ভালো অর্থেই প্রয়োগ হত। যেমন :- জঙ্গি বিমান। কিন্তু কিছু পত্র - পত্রিকায় জঙ্গি শব্দটাকে ইসলামের নাম ভাঙানো সন্ত্রাসীদের ক্ষেত্রে প্রয়োগ করার কারণে এখন জঙ্গি শব্দটা খারাপ অর্থে প্রয়োগ হয়।
তাই বাধ্য হয়েই অন্যদের দেখাদেখি জঙ্গি শব্দটাকে খারাপ অর্থে প্রয়োগ করতে হচ্ছে। তবে আপনারা মানুষকে প্রলুব্ধ করে এই স্থানে আনেন কেন ?
বদর আলি :- বাংলাদেশের মানুষ অন্যান্য দেশের মানুষের তুলনায় বেশি প্রলোভনের শিকার হয়। এক ফকিরনির পোলায় যদি এসপি হয়, তবে দেখাদেখি আরো কয়েক হাজার ফকিরনির পোলায় এসপি হতে চায়। এক রিকশাওয়ালার ছেলে যদি ডিসি হয়, তবে দেখাদেখি আরো হাজার হাজার কুলি - মজুরের ছেলেও ডিসি হতে চায়। আবার কোটিপতির ছেলেরাও দেশে কোটি কোটি টাকার সম্পত্তি ফেলে রেখে মধ্যপ্রাচ্য, ইউরোপ, আমেরিকা, অস্ট্রেলিয়া আর নিউজিল্যান্ডের মতো দেশে গিয়ে টয়লেট পরিষ্কার করে টাকা কামায় সেই সকল দেশের নাগরিক হওয়ার প্রলোভনে। আবার অনেকেই কোটি টাকার সম্পদ ফেলে রেখে নিজ দেশেই নামমাত্র বেতনে চাকরি করে। তাই আমরাও বিভিন্নভাবে প্রলুব্ধ করে আমাদের এই স্থানে নিয়ে আসি।
আমি :- গরিবের সন্তানদের ডিসি - এসপি হওয়া অথবা হতে চাওয়া, কোটিপতি বিদেশে গিয়ে টয়লেট পরিষ্কার করা অথবা ধনী ব্যক্তি নামমাত্র বেতনে চাকরি করা কোন অপরাধ না। এটা যার যার দৃষ্টিভঙ্গির ব্যাপার।
বদর আলি :- তাই আমরাও যার যার দৃষ্টিভঙ্গির সুযোগটা কাজে লাগিয়ে প্রলুব্ধ করে এই স্থানে নিয়ে এসে জিহাদি কাজে জড়িত করি।
